stock suspension setup forces me to take a later apex on most corners - was trying that on the sweeper, but just couldn't turn the car down to the apex no matter how hard I tried

Nice to see so many MS3's tearing up the track. The first time I ever drove the MS3 was at a CSCS event in the fall of 2006. I did 10 laps with it and almost bought one that fall. I ended up with the MS6 instead.

Are any of you guys coming to the PITL event on Sunday? I'll be there in the MX-5.

Great driving boys! Represent! Very nice lines on those curves man. Definately not your first times on the track! I was quite impressed. I know a guy who brought his Boxter on a track (Mosport I think) and side swiped the entire right side of his car ($9K damage) so Driver is everything! Makes me hopeful since I have a stock 3! :chuckle

the PIP one is coming but it isn't as smooth as I want it to be...might have to downgrade from Win7 to WinXP.

and yeah, the camera was set to high from a previous stint on Tremblant...I'll get you a tissue...:chuckle

I have lots to improve on...I should shave about 3 seconds of my time...but this was my first session of the season, and it was more meant for shake-down of some new equipment...so thanks! and you should come out with us!

That GPS overlay w/ PIP is brilliant... When you get it working properly it's going to be sick. Did you have the lap counter turned off, or does it not work properly?

And sick action shots of Big Dad!

It's just a club event this weekend so there are lots of stock cars.

I'll be at both events in Barrie too as our CASC club is co-organizing. As the 28th is a regional there will be lots of fast, hardcore drivers but lots of club level drivers too.

What a great collection of really nice fast cars. These events are a great opportunity to see various stages of modified cars competing in a performance oriented motorsport. I think that he Mazdas have represented very well.

P.s. I am still sore about the Sti is such an upgrade comment :flaming

Yes, I think there is room to go faster. Ask Fobio if my car had any brakes what so ever. Lol. I think with some brakes there is further potential. Dont forget that we had a newcomer speed3 driver that showed very well on his first time at the track with minimal mods. He might be a contender in the future. We also missed Mlelond and Speedbaby that finished last year very well and I am sure have new mods that will help them to go faster when they hopefully come back next time.

seemed like I had a little too much time on my hands the other night, so I transferred all the times, etc., from cscs into an excel sheet. I figured this was a good way to see just where we are in comparison to the rest of the field. Of course Big Dad is near the top of all cars, which is awesome. Now the rest of us just need to make our way up the list!

Hey Maplefin, You do have a lot of time on your hands but it makes for a good comparison. Fyi. M3 means BMW M3. The fastest Bmw there was the modded Mcoupe.

Did you use Hawk hps pads? Have you figured out your brake problem?

maplephin
06-07-2009, 01:30 AM
hey Big Dad, It was actually pretty quick to do and it shows where I need to improve. I want top 10...

The pads are HPS, I'm not sure if the guy who installed them actually bedded them in properly :( I went out today and tried to re-bed them to see if it would help. The initial bite was good, the typical fade came in while bedding, but after cooling it didn't improve. I need to pull the calipers off to check the pads and see if they are glazed, that's what I think the problem is. I need to flush the system too and see if it improves. My next step will be to change the rotors and see if that helps.

How does the pedal feel? Same as the stock pads? Softer?

Big Dad
06-08-2009, 09:18 PM
In all fairness, I have not bled the lines yet. I plan on doing that on Saturday. So the pedal feal is pretty bad at this point.

maplephin
06-08-2009, 09:31 PM
It will be interesting after bleeding the lines to see how it is? I know fobio said his pedal feel wasn't as good as stock and mine wasn't either.

-cj-
06-09-2009, 01:48 AM
If the peddle doesn't return to normal after bleeding the brakes, you may need to move up to SS brake lines or replace your brake lines. Not sure if this problem is present on the 3's, but the lines tend to expand after constant heavy braking.

Fobio
06-09-2009, 09:03 AM
I've replaced the lines w/ SS brake line when I did the first brake service...it's never been the same as stock. Eventho the HPS are better pads, I don't think it's possible to get back exactly the factory pedal feel...oh well.

silvermist99
06-09-2009, 09:12 AM
I actually had similar experience with the HPS on my previous car years ago, they have less fade but the feel and inital bite was terrible compared to other pads. I thought it was just me back then... I think its the pad compound? Sounds like they are good for track days, not autox
