any opinions?
i've been searching autotrader regularly and can't seem to find the used car that i want at a mazda dealership. i don't really want to go the used car dealership route, but was wondering if anyone had heard anything about RepoDepo.
do they just seize cars for creditors or are they a used car dealership which means i have to worry about the typical headaches that often come with going that route?

You can bid on cars at the repo depot. They put asking prices on them, but you can bid way under it. For example, my friend's Dad just picked up a 2005 mini cooper for $6700. The sticker price in the window wanted almost $15,000. They just sell to the highest bidder.

Man.. they have a nice Mastercraft X-30 wakeboard boat that I'd gladly pay $1000 for.

thanks for the info. :) and they're just seized cars right? so, luck of the draw in terms of condition, accident history etc.

Not entirely true, I have had bids rejected as I would have won the car for too little money. But it is a trusted place to get a car, my accountant buys all his stuff from there.

I think they only reject your bid if they do not cover what was owed on the vehicle. If it covers what was owed, they simple take the highest bid.
do these cars have full set of keys? I am trying to think what if the previous owners still have the keys and decided to "take back" his or her cars...!

If the owner of a repossessed car decide to go and take it back even for a last spin it would be treated by police just like a car theft. The car there are as good as if you buy em from a used cars dealership, they have a white 2004 530i that I would love to buy!!

How do you think they would know it was the car they previously had?

I am exploring this method to obtain a descent M3 and I was wondering who has purchased one from them and their experience with the process. I was on the site recently and I am not sure how to scale my bidding. Don't want to bid too high or low. Is there a good resource or website that I can check to know the book values to base my bidding on? I hoping to check them out on the weekend. Thanks

i have bought cars from REPODEPO in the past...the first thing you should know is that there are NO TEST DRIVES...i am assuming that this is still the case...secondly - they dont even give you the keys to look inside the vehicle until AFTER you have made a bid....
what happens is REPODEPO just takes your bid to the lienholder (usually the bank) and they can accept or reject the bid....so really it depends on how much is left owing on the vehicle and the black book value of the car....the bank knows how much the car is worth wholesale (black book) and they know how much is left owing on the vehicle - so bid accordingly
and who knows - maybe you'll get a little surprise....in my Z24 - i got a fishing rod, tackle box, tool box and about 40 CDs (all Vietnemese music)....good times

Hah. There's already a 2010 Mazda 3 on the Repodepo site.
and i'll throw my opinion in here too....
really, i never really found any SUPER deals...and if there is something good there - keep in mind that you are going to be bidding against other people...and that place is busy - lots of foot traffic
i think it is better for finding diamonds in the rough....something to fix up....you know - kind of like that homely girl in the corner at a party - but maybe you like her butt and you talk yourself into it by focusing on that one particular feature....
if you go in there and start placing bids way below blackbook - keep in mind that the bank could have just sent to car to auction and presumably gotten the wholesale value of the car - assuming there are no major defects....so it will likely take a bid above blackbook in order to get a decent car

Are you referring to the white one? =)
If so, is it me or for some reason, in one of the pics, the door gap between the front passenger side and the front hood seems big =\
