I always thought this man will forever be indirectly linked to Bruce Lee's fame and death...but most will remember him as Bill...

RIP Grasshopper...

if you believe the movie, Bruce Lee created Kung Fu as a show for himself, that the studios wouldn't approve because they couldn't imagine a pale-as-yellow Chinese man play a leading role...so they picked a white guy with squinty eyes to play a "Shaolin priest"...this then prompted Bruce Lee to return to Hong Kong, achieving fame and glory, which also lead to his untimely death.

that's how I see it anyway....I don't expect anyone to agree tho...

RIP... They used to film Kung Fu: The Legend Continues at Bellwoods Park (Trinity?) On Queen Street... and the Police Headquarters in that show was this building on Queen St., west of Dovercourt... I never ran into him when they filmed, despite living right by those areas... :(

From the wiki:

"Part of the appeal of the series was undoubtedly the emphasis laid, via the flashbacks, on the mental and spiritual power that Caine had gained from his rigorous training. In these flashbacks, Master Po calls his young student "Grasshopper" in reference to a scene in the pilot episode."

I met him!

he was filming a kung fu ep in the forrest near my house so my dad and I went to watch while walking our dog when I was young.. anyways.. after about 20 minutes of watching the crew members came over and invited us to come watch and sit in chairs and eat food!! david carradine came over and did the whole "snatch this pebble" shindig.. haha my cat like reflexes got the pebble... although I'm sure he let me "win" got his autograph and that was that... surprised i remember that. haha i was like 12-13 or so at the time.. crazy.
