Found this today... I wonder how well it actually works?

http://www.turtlewaxblackbox.com/

I guess it has tinted cleaners and detailing sprays, makes me wonder if it's safe to use or if it might add a weird off-black brown hue to the paint eventually?

I haven't... I know it sucks sometimes huh? But black really cleans up sooo nice, I saw a few water marks on my hood recently and used turtle wax ice detailing spray, it got rid of them pretty good!!! You should try the stuff (if this black box stuff doesn't cut it...) it's great to use regularly between waxes/polishing!

I need to learn how to clean my car properly...

I just washed the rims.. once cause it was reallly really dirty...

i read somewhere.. it happens to new cars... cause of break grinding?

so basically you would...

clean
soap
clean
clay bar
wax
buff
clean off wax

lol... Im glad there's a pressure car washer in the underground parking lot... haha i'll just take over it.. one day and clean my car.

disclaimer: i am one of the laziest guys on the face of the planet and i'm really not that into cars. :blush but i'd still like to maintain my car, even though it's difficult with the black.

where should i go for my regular (let's say monthly) car washes and where's a good place to go for my twice-a-year detailing?

You want someone else to wash your car and detail it?

Grab a nearby hose and go to town!!!! I'm very lazy as well, but washing my car is kind of like therapy for me. I get 2 hours to myself at a coin-op car wash once a week and no one is around to bug me! :)

hmmmmmmmm I'd like the idea of this product but my experience with Turtle Wax products has been pretty negative.

i.e "Liquid Clay Bar" used this garbage once or twice.

This weekend I used Meguiar's ColourX combination polish/wax on my black mica hatch and it turned out amazing. Highly recommended for $11.99 at CT.

Weird, I always use Turtle Wax Ice product line on my car. Nothing else touches my car but their stuff...

Have to admit though, I havent tried their liquid claybar. I have a stick of Riccardo Yellow kickin around but I'm too lazy to start claybarring.

Saying the Liquid claybar is shit is a little unfair, TW Liquid clay was not designed to replace an actual claybar but used properly is more of a paint cleaner. For instance you would wash the car normally, then repeat wash using the TW liquid clay then clay the vehicle using an actual claybar to 'lift' contaminants.
Turtle wax has several videos on their site showing the proper method in using their products.Check out the one on the Liquid Clay...Incidently Turtle Wax has put out a Claying kit which inludes a Claybar, the liquid clay and the claybar lubricant.

I use to think turtle wax is the holy grail of waxing, however have you checked with the pros at autopia.org? they say otherwise. For the same price you get better products that perform better and last longer. Turtle wax Ice polish only last for 2-3 weeks tops.

And have you tested this yourself? Because I have!! and I disagree 100%....Last November I put 2 coats in succession on my car of Turtle wax ice and in mid march it was still protecting fully.Water beeding and paint still felt smooth to the touch and still shined awesome...As for cost I'd have to say @ $20 a bottle and I have waxed my vehicle and others (atleast 20 waxes) and still have half a bottle....so I think cost verses quality/usage it's a pretty good deal.

Don't know for mine with "1 coat" lasted for maybe 3 weeks to max a month if lucky. I apply thin layers so don't know. surprised it lasted longer for you though. If it works for you keep using it lol.

BTw $20/bottle is a good deal, however if you buy the kit, its save you money. You get the Bottle of polish, detailer, interior cleaning, 2 cheap MF, and a app pad for $30.

Mazda Kitten I recall a thread a while back when I researched this product where you said you actually liked the product? You said it worked wonders for a black car or something.... haha it was convincing either way and a few people said they really liked it as well, so I went out and bought it... but now I'm thinking twice, what swayed you from your previous comments?

Flagrum seems to be sticking to it through, so I can't knock it before I try it. I love the TW detailing spray so the polish and claybar can't be all that bad! I just need to find somewhere that doesn't charge me $3 each time I use the hose if I have to wash it in sections :chuckle

Why don' you try using "Optimum Non rinse wash&shine" great product for saving water, and its great for home owners and people who have limited access to a hose.

Dont forget me ! I'm an avid user of the TWI product line, just like Flagrum (and actually, gotta give props to Flagrum for convincing me to use the TWI product line :hawt). I honestly could not be any happier with the results their products give me and my car.

Sure!!!

Originally I went ahead and bought the Turtle Wax Ice Clay bar/Polish. Unfortunately that didn't work out for me as well as I had hoped, I didn't like the idea of washing each panel as I went along and there were a lot of streaks leftover. So I just recently bought Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit and Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0 (both from Canadian Tire).

Worked out AWESOME!!!! The clay was fun and took no effort to use, and the wax has been holding up really nicely. It also provided a good temporary fix for the swirls by filling them in (a little better than the TWI Liquid Polish).

I still love love love the TWI spray detailer though, that stuff cleans all the plastics as you have to be careful not to get the NXT wax on them. Anyway car is ridiculously clean and feels really smooth to touch, overall I'm impressed with Meguiar's products.

Hope that helps you a little, let us know the outcome!

(PS Flagrum has been a big help for me and seems to be really knowledgeable about detailing stuff if you still have questions! :))

Interesting... How many times can you claybar and wax before it's all used up? I'm planning to clay and wax my car soon.

Not sure about the wax, but after having my car for 1 year with just washing, then waxing recently using that same kit, I used 1 of the 2 bars (can probably still have used it a bit) and probably close to 1/2 of the spray.

But that's just me in my situation

Well it came with 2 bars... and I dropped both of them.... hahahahahh *huge klutz* I think they sell just the clay in packages of 2 now so it shouldn't cost any more than $10 to replace them.

As for waxing, I've only done it once but I use the spray detailer every time I wash so it kind of gives it a very light coat of protection until the next full waxing.

Yah CT is the WORST for service... no matter which location you go to. The clay kits are with the waxes, but I didn't find the kit at a smaller CT location, so I went to a larger one and found it... and I also saw it at wal-mart. Definitely try the larger locations they seem to carry more.

But after the experience, the best way to wash the car, is to use a clean sponge and clean water, and make sure to remove 100% of soap, cloth and clear water-absorbing well
