The union, which represents the city's garbage collectors, water workers and parks employees, said Thursday it is frustrated with the city's bargaining position and is prepared to walk off the job at midnight on June 22....

Just give them a raise and be done with it. I mean who of us during this recession have not received a raise? The City coffers are overflowing with money so let's spread the wealth. It's only fair.

Yea dude, it sucks down here for us.. its been waaaay to long for them being on strike.. its shit..

There is bugs everywhere, stray animals and whatnot tearing up garbage's in the neighbourhoods and people getting real pissed..

A lot of the guys I know are grouping with people in the city and have been cleaning up parks so kids can play and people can be safe.

Now the city is hiring private contract work to do parks and buildings, but must call a special team because apparently birds are using the tall grass that hasn't been cut for months to breed. So in short, these people need to clear the area and check for animals before the contractors go out and mow the grass..

And that lady in the video is just horrible on so many levels..
It went as far as members of the city going out and dropping nails at private dump sites and whatnot so people would run them over. They'd picket at hockey games, in parks, anywhere they knew something public was happening.

But at least the public dump is open and free-of-charge for the meantime..

But the City of Windsor met CUPE half-way with a deal, and they refused. So the city said screw you pretty much and is not offering them anything now. You snooze, you lose. They figured, "What the hell, they met us half way, lets push for the full 100%", but they lost.
Tuesday talks will resume to resolve this issue..
