I didn't want to hijack Fobio's thread, but his thread reminded me of something.

When I stomp on first (from a roll), and "bounce" off the rev limiter... It isn't so much as a bounce as it is holding the RPMs against 7k...

Example: Misshift 2nd to 3rd gear and you notice your car slow down from lack of power as fuel is cut from the engine.

Now, from a rolling start in 1st gear, mash the throttle and hit 7k... The car keeps the RPMs at 7k and if you listen to your exhaust note, it sounds wierd, ALMOST like the misfire sound you get when you have launch control / flat shift...

Is this normal MS3 behavior? Is it a Cobb thing? Is my car broken? :chuckle

Either way it's pretty sweet, there's like no noticeable loss of power in 1st gear after hitting the rev limiter --- Maybe I just answered my own question. 1st has a rev limiter and other gears have a fuel cut?

it might have to do with 1st and 2nd's trq limiting logic from the factory tune, being manipulated by Cobb to allow for full power, while the other gears are unlimited to begin with so no manipulation is req'd for the higher gears. just a guess.

This is normal for all gears, try it out. Same as if you rev it to 7k in neutral. The reason it sounds different is because to limit the rpm it doesn't limit gasoline being entered into the engine, it stops spark. So when you hit the rev limit raw unburnt gas goes right through your exhaust and ignites on the cat(s). You should also notice that while holding at 7k rpm you're also throwing massive amounts of black smoke out the tail pipe due to this catalytic combustion.

Hmm.. Don't seem to remember this happening in 2nd. Maybe it was some sort of boost cut that I experienced in 2nd.

That's cool though. My Probe used to cut fuel, I like this method better. I'm sure my cats don't tho ;)

Wish I remembered how the car behaved in stock mode...

My Probe used to cut fuel

I have experience with this too! My Probe did a fuel cut at 135km/h in the fast lane of the 401. It cut so much fuel the engine completely stopped! Boy, was that a rush to get to the right shoulder before slowing down too much with my mother yelling at me at the same time about what was happening.

LOL crazy... That brings back memories of me having to cut across 3 lanes of traffic, including cutting off a huge 18 wheeler because of a tire blow out on the QEW years ago. I think I still have a picture of that somewhere.... The sidewall separated from the tire but luckily the sidewall stayed attached to the rim and I had no rim damage. Talk about luck. ;)

Whoever owned my Probe before me must have removed the speed limiter, the car was able to do 230km/h no problem.... On the dyno of course. My fuel cut was only when hitting 7500 RPM. :)

'93+ Probe GT's had no limiter, only the SE's were limited around 180km/h.
