hey guys, i just bought a 2005 mazda3 sedan gs standard and i never really noticed the clutch when i test drove it but i dont know if its on its way out now or if its normal. I can get the clutch out about half way not giving it gas and the call will roll slightly but the rev's wont drop untill i get it like 75% out. i drove my friends jetta and its totally different. i dont ride the clutch by the way....i just dont know if the previous driver did or not and i want to know if i should start saving for a new clutch. Thanks guys

I think thats normal. the contact point on the clutch for our mz3s are higher than some cars. Take for example my friend with a ralliart. You just have to release the clutch a bit and it'll connect.

my clutch is the same.
when I start releasing the clutch, I have the feeling that the clutch force is not linear with how much I released it. As in, if I have my foot 50% off the clutch, I will not get 50% clutch force.
As you say, when I release the clutch slowly the car starts rolling before the clutch foot is half off, but the real force only comes around 75%.
so when I'm shifting gears, to get smooth shifting I release my foot to about 75% very fast and then slow down considerably for the last 25%.
before I would release my foot slowly all the time but this was not good because in the beginning (first 50%) the motor speed is not matched due to low force on the clutch.
by releasing it quickly to about 75% the motor is smoothly matched to the wheel speed, and then I start applying gas again. This way I manage to shift the gears quite fast without getting any wheel hop.

im having a different problem. when i get off the highway, the clutch seems to be a little numb/soft. is this normal? After driving it in the city for 5-10minutes it becomes normal again.
I have MT90 in the 5SP. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

em3 - my clutch pedal feels very soft/numb too almost all the time. Not sure if it's the pedal or clutch pedal itself. Were you able to get it fixed or find the problem?
