Peel police are seeking the public's help after a truck carrying more than 1,300 Xbox gaming consoles valued at approximately $780,000 was stolen in Mississauga Sunday morning.

Police say four to five suspects dressed in dark clothing entered a trailer yard near Britannia Rd. E and Dixie Rd shortly after 4 a.m. They attacked a security guard who was subsequently dragged under a parked trailer with his hands and feet tied together.

The suspects stole a 16-metre 2007 Air-Ride trailer, bearing the Ontario licence plate C11-47X and trailer identification number 55334. The trailer is black in colour, with "Trans-Send Freight Systems" in silver lettering.

The security guard received minor injuries and is expected to fully recover.

Investigators are warning the public to use caution if they are offered the chance to purchase a new Xbox gaming console under suspicious circumstances. Police warn that anyone found with stolen property could be charged.

Hehe... Cheap xbox 360s, are going to start floating around. I would imagine the thieves would try to sell them to dealers first.

Can Microsoft track the serial # or IDs when the xboxes log on to the internet?

If not found intact MS will probably just block off the stolen consoles from live

i'm sure based on lot/batch/sku they can determine what xboxs were stolen..

I think they can as each XBox may have a unique system or hardware code when you log onto XBox live.

They might have the MAC address for the machines that they can track but I can't see the hardware number of the machine being sent over XBox Live.

Yup no possible way of them finding out...at least I would think they don't. I'd buy a cheap console even tho I'm no gamer but I'm sure someone else would buy it...

profit = :hawt

Is this the same truck that they were showing in the news they found on the 401?

jonjon72
07-03-2009, 05:22 PM
Nope. That truck was taken from LG and had tv's in them. The driver was car jacked and was let go at the side of the highway. (they had emptied the truck somewhere else).
