For parking on the street between 2:30am - 6:00am. I've had a $31 back in December 2008 but what the heck?? It's up to $40 now in Markham?! :loco
It's my fault. I forgot to bring the car back in after my guests left last night. This has to be a Guiness World Record lol...but apparently I got off lucky.
I wish there was a lower/discounted fine for residents, or pay before certain date and it's x amount instead of the full amount. Lol @ $40, they should make the back of the ticket a coupon for Pizza Pizza or Subway! :chuckle
What do you think? Have you seen higher?

I was actually fully expecting this thread to bitch about the parking ticket, if you should go fight and and stuff like that. ahahaha... but it is humourous... and you're not really bitching
I approve this thread. As for a higher parking ticket, I haven't seen one yet so I can't say.

Hahaha! Yeah, what can you do when you know it's your fault. Next time I'm blocking my guests in lol! That way I don't forget. :)

A couple of years ago i attended a Canada Day event which lead me to park on the lawn (no parking available) and came back to see a sweet $110 (i believe it was) ticket. I wanted to fight it but missed the court date and well ended up paying a little more. It sucked a55 but will I'll never do that again :bang

AFAIK $40 is right if you're in Markham. You can go to the Markham civic center and fight it so the guy will reduce it (but not to 0). However, the office hours I beleive ends at 4:30pm? (see back of ticket). I couldn't make it because I don't get back to that area after work until 5,5:30.

Hmmm, wonder if it's worth it. I'll make up a story like, "I was too intoxicated to drive it back in the driveway. I didn't want to endanger anyone or get in an accident." Lol, trying to look somewhat responsible...even though in reality I was completely sober!

It really doesn't matter what you say. As long as you say something worth believing the guy will deduct the ticket. Probably down to $25?
Its mainly the trouble of taking time out of your day to go talk to him. The operating hours aren't the best and its only mon-fri.

I once was parking on a side street, because this park had no more space left in the lot... and about 100 other cars were doing the same thing.
I come back to the car a couple hours later and find a $60.00 ticket for parking on a "Highway", since when did side streets become highways,
I just paid it, I could have found other parking a bit further away, i was lazy!+

Basically I live @ YorkU with 10 peeps in an area called the village, you can only park on one side of the street for 2 hours, i have a garage, so this shouldn't be a problem, however basically all the time cars will block my path to the garage, so i just parked right in front of my house all the time and tossed all the tickets in the garbage, was planning on fighting but ended up paying them. Didnt really mind because i made that payment and then i was handed the keys to my A3 :) . So i was too happy to give a shi*
No Chrome on the Wheel im a baller for real :chuckle

Need to get loose after a hard week of Work
I Recommend going out to Summerlicios the Food is amazing, a great opportunity to fine dine at a good price. Dinner is 35$ or 45$ at 5 Star restaraunt which include appetier, entre and dessert

I got one for the exact same reason last summer as well, also in Markham. Actually it was 2 tickets, one fro parking overnight and another one for parking in the wrong direction (my house is on a circle, i didn't even know there's a wrong direction of a circle!!!). I took them both to court, and haven't heard anything since. And if I don't hear anything back till August i'll have grounds for dismissal, since i didn't get a trial in reasonable time.

Reeeaally?? Hmmm, I might fight this just to see. Worst that can happen is I have to pay the full $40. Let me know how yours goes...cuz that circle crap sucks.

I was over at my friend's one night and left at 2:45 with the car parked on the street... the timestamp on the ticket said 2:40 yet I don't see anything around me @#*@#!@(). There is a phone number back there that I tried calling to schedule a court date. Ended up being on hold for 2.5 hour.. then I hung up, got really fustrated and called again and almost threw my phone into the wall after another 10mins. Ended up paying for it online after loosing my patient :@
2:30am is so dumb... they should either make it 2 or 3am

Well for $40, at least our GARBAGE gets picked up :chuckle and it better continue to!

One year, or 365 days is the limit to throw a ticket out? Any kind of ticket?

Yeah, I tried calling to schedule a date as well but after 20mins of waiting I hung up. I then left work early just to get to the civic center before 4:30pm(closing time) so I could talk it down to $25. I sat there until 4:30 and then I was told they are closed and he will only speak to a few more (there were around 7 of us still waiting). :flaming Whatever, paid the $40 and got it over with.
set an alarm for 2:30am just to stand outside and move the car :chuckle

I once got a $100 parking ticket in the beaches for parking within 3m of a fire hydrant that was COMPLETELY covered and hidden by a 5' hedge. I really think the owners of the house should have gotten the ticket for hiding a fire hydrant. I had to pull back a foot thick of hedge to find the hydrant and I was like 2 3/4m away from it... ugh...

I parked on a street once that they were doing construction on. Instead of putting up signs they just towed all the cars on that street to different areas. No tickets but it was really weird for those of us who parked on that street to come back to every car gone at lunch and see mine go by on a tow truck.
That driver made a killing.

That happened to my mom too a few years ago. She freaked out and screamed at all the construction guys and got everyone's name. It was funny.
