I am trying to import my contacts from iPhone to Mazda's phonebook, as soon as I have "import" menu on display-bluetooth icon disapears and I can not figure out how to proceed.
Anyone had the same problem or i am doing something wrong?
Thanks

You can import contacts? I never knew. How?
you can only import one at a time from what i tried... so its sorta useless...
if anyone knows how to import your whole contact list let me know!

I was having the same kind of trouble with my BB storm when I was trying to import my contact list to my clarion dbl DIN Head unit. What I had to do was initiate the import starting with the bluetooth turned off and it worked. Nothing in the manual suggested this, discovered it by dumb luck(happens when I drink). Every time I tried to start it while the BT was connected it failed. This is with the BlackBerry of course, but you can try it with the iPhone. let me know.
what should happen:
Import with BT tunred off,
when it starts the the process, your phone should automatically connect to your BT device(hopefully you paired it first)
Then it will transfer your contacts,
Finally your Phone's BT will disconnect/terminate.(Your contacts will have transfered by then)
Reconnect the BT in the usual way and your GOLDEN!.

Great! I'm going to try this with my BalckBerry. Every time I try to send a contact it wants to disconnect. So starting unconnected does make sense.

I've tried it the way you describe but if my BT is off I can not go to Import without pairing the phone first, and after it is paired the same story-unable to import.
Maybe I will stop by the dealership.....

I also have an iPhone as my spare. I will try it tonight on my deck to see if I can get the contacts transfered. I will let you all know how I made out.
BTW: Chester_Lampwick, did you get your contacts to transfer from your BB?

I think I should clarify. the BT radio should be in the on, but the connection to the device should be terminated. They try to import the contacts. That what I did on my BB. I havent tried the process with the iPhone yet as I am still at work. when I get home I will try it. I will post the results around 8pm. maybe sooner if traffic is light.

My sister has been borrowing my new car all week. Since I picked it up on the 9th, it now has over 1100 kms on it. So I finally got to play with it tonight. No luck importing contacts. Truthfully, I've got a first generation corporate BlackBerry so maybe there is no option to send contacts. I have the option on my Palm, but it couldn't send it successfully.
For those interested, I was able to use my Palm as a Bluetooth audio device. The controls are basic, not much advantage over the aux in jack. However, the big plus is that I can track forward and back from the steering wheel contols, and pause using the centre control on the dash. It also pauses when you change to another mode, like radio. Can't comment on audio quality, I was listening to an audiobook.
To use a palm as bluetooth audio device you need to install Softick Audio Gateway. It's a 21 day trial before you need to purchase.
See ya,
Roger

Not all. The system is only capable of holding a work, home and cell number at once.

Yes, it can hold three numbers for a contact, but how many contacts can you have?
wait... so your entire phone book synced (except for the ones with multiple entries under one name)? wow i gotta try that out...
