Hello all

I'm Eric. I just bought a 2006 Mazda 3 GT Sport on the 4th of July. Since then I've had a fuse blown at least four times and I've had it in the shop to be fixed each time because it's still under warranty. One dealership thought it could have been something called the "room fuse". What happens is that my stereo is completely dead (display screen and all), the dome lights do not work, the trip meter resets every time I start the car and the remote locks do not work.

They thought it was the cigarette lighter (which was attached tho this 15 amp fuse) so I had someone rewire that so it's attached to a 30Amp power source so I can run my cell phone or GPS off it. I thought that fixed it but now the fuse blew AGAIN! I have an appointment with a Mazda dealership but they say they haven't seen this issue before and it may take a long time to find the problem.

Can anyone shed a little insight on what I might be dealing with? Just so I have something I could suggest to the mechanics.

Just out of curiosity, are you running a system or anything else that would draw power? Also, which fuse (position) is blown, this may help others determine the cause.

uhh its obvious that it's not what you are plugging in that's causing this... you HAVE a short somewhere, they just need to find it and repair the wire!

Cigarette lighter has it's own, separate, fuse. I would take the car to someone who actually knows how the car is wired.

hurry up and get this fixed especially if you're still under warranty. If the dealer you're taking it to can't seem to find the problem you should take it to another. I'm not sure where you're located, but seem there are a few customer service oriented dealers around. Might want to check them out.
