So, I traded in my MS3 this weekend for a full load Mazda6 GT V6. I found a deal that I couldn't pass up and it suits my families needs a bit better. It was fun while it lasted.
Cheers,
Phil

Heh, don't get me wrong, the Mazda 6 is sweet. 278hp, heated leather, navigation, the goofy push button start, etc, etc, etc ... I think there's even a button that I could push that does my dishes at the same time :chuckle
It was the owner's demo and it has every conceiveable option except i-pod adapter ... which is ok by me, I prefer to use the aux jack anyway.

Wow, that didn't take you long Phil. I knew you were looking for something a little bigger but that was fast. The new MZ6's are pretty sweet looking, congrats.

Is it the new 2010 Mazda 6?
What kind of deal you got to satisfy you over driving a Ms3?

No, 2009 ... I don't think the 2010s are available yet.
The MS3 was less than ideal for my family ... I have tall 16 and 17 year old boys and there isn't much room in the back for them. It's ok around town but a bit uncomfortable for them on longer road trips with the lack of leg room. I'm going to miss the "fun factor" of the MS3 but I have a 60km commute each way to work atm with little opportunity to let loose with it anyway.
As for the MZ6, I got about $8000 off of the MSRP plus free tinting and wheel locks. They gave me a decent value on my trade (but it's never as much as we want), far better than I have been offered anywhere else. When you factor in decent financing deals with low rates, plus the Mazda Owner Renewal Program, it was a no-brainer for me.
To be honest, I never would have looked at a MZ6 this loaded but for the price, I couldn't resist. Besides, I'm worth it :chuckle

Once they realize 265hp boosted vs 280hp N/A, they'll change their tune.
Nice car, my friend has an 08 without the Nav package.

good luck with the car
there's tons of issues with the new 6, just like any first year car
aren't you going to be upside down on this deal? you should just stick to the ms3 for now

Really? Do you have proof to back this up or are you speculating because you got brainwashed into the rumor of "first year cars have problems"?
I just want to know, because I haven't heard anything negative about these cars so far.
Congrats on the buy btw.. hopefully it'll be fun. I sure as hell love the new 6; its pimp..

oh, another one of those "I won't believe it till I see it" type persons :bana2
I've seen fit and finish issues with the new 6, recalls, and TONS of TSBs for it
I don't have to prove anything to you
if you don't want to believe me, I don't really care

defects/issues are more EFFORT than it's worth
if you don't mind wasting time taking the car to the dealership (like taking days off for example), go for it
I rather buy a trouble free car
my 3 had nothing but exceptional service so far... there were a few minor defects that were fixed already... only 2 trips to the dealer total and that's it

seemed like he was genuinely asking what issues you were aware of... cuz not many of us really know....
it'd be nice to just take your word for it but it helps the entire community out when you can provide some examples...
btw littleolme

Please share your knowledge on the "defects" of the new Mazda 6. We all would like to learn something that we haven't heard of, and only you know.
FYI, nothing is guarantee to be "trouble free".

I've kept an eye on Rosenthal Mazda'a site since I owned my Miata in 2005. While it's American, it gives us a good indication of what's going on with Mazda's in general, in regards to TSBs and recalls. Infact, I used their TSB to show one of the dealers here the issue with the sterios in certain VIN numbers (which included mine), an issue they weren't overly aware of.
There isn't a brand of car out there without issues. In regards to the 2009 MZ6, there are a few issues but nothing earth shattering. To be honest, it's not so much more than our MS3s or the regular MZ3s. Besides, as I said earlier, that's what warranty is for.
I think "TheMAN" should just be a man and stop the jealousy ;)

Not really what I would call a huge list. Many of those TSB affect the same system (ie. 5 for air conditioning, 3 for the air bags, etc).
http://www.finishlineperformance.com/store/pages.php?pageid=12
There are a bunch listed here for newer MZ3's as well, every car has it's share. I guess the long and short of it is that recalls and TSBs don't really scare me ... they are in place for a reason, anything that's not working properly will be addressed.

Agreed. BTW- I wasn't posting the list to try and prove anything or validate any of the points made. Just posted it as someone asked for the details. Helps get it all out on the table.
I'm sad to see another MS3 owner give up his ride, but I wish you all the best with the MZ6.

Well thank you for posting the info. up, I do appreciate it, as I'm sure others do as well.
Like mentioned above, quite a # of the TSB's affect the same thing, but nothing overly worrying.. The only thing worth being somewhat scared of is the door handle, not a major issue, nor the Thule roof rack.
The new 6 is a beauty and when the time comes, I may just step into one..
