The mother is to blame on this one. Since he didn't go to jail (which he should have) this is the next best thing I suppose.

still doesn't account for the death of the truck driver. he should go to jail or be deported back home. wtf is 21 months of house arrest?

$80,000 might have cost us as tax payers to keep him in jail for 2 or more years. Let him pay for it, no free room and board now...thanks for their donation

Wow, the guy writing the article isn't a pr!ck himself or anything.

I'm not vouching for the kid...but you do stupid things when you're 20. In this case, I don't think he intended for anyone to be killed over some motor revving.

I guess the cops were really after him...

HAHAHAHA, what a loser... and 21 month house arrest is just not right,

i think when u kill someone in an accident.... due to negligence and reckless regard for life... you should be mindful enough that when you are punished... and told NEVER to get behind the wheel of a car again...that you OBEY that punishment

i think that the thought of the individual you killed due your stupidity should come to mind everytime u even think about touching/operating a motor vehicle. clearly this cool teenager didn't think twice about the life of the father he stole and the children he left behind when he got behind that wheel to move the car a few meters....

i think this article was exactly an honest and truthful response to what happened.

Bail conditions are bail conditions. They must be followed in every aspect of the ruling.

Tough luck.

Of course there was no intention to kill someone - but that was the end result here. 16 or 60 - they are guilty - no driving means no driving. $60 grand is a lot to lose - nothing close to losing a loved one. Like the article said, was that a tear for the racer's family? no, sorry, just a raindrop.

Considering the amount, it would probably pay the guy's tuition for four years undergrad and probably two years of MBA there. Just went to the government.

Good for them, they guy should have been jailed for homecide due to reckless imprudence. While the family should have been deported back to the country where they came from (India, Sri Lanka....whatever and wherever....). A huge dent of 80K.....ouch ! ! ! That's gotta hurt. Maybe they did not understood the condition that the offender is not allowed to be behind the steering wheel, well, there should have been an interpreter at that time....

That's 1 street racer off our streets....

Well if mama is a child psychologist, she should be making plenty to pay off 80K for her little child.
But 80K wow, I wonder how long it would take to save up for that much money.

not sure i understand where your racial prejudice is coming from.

they probably have a legal right to be here (i.e. Landed Immigrants, Citizenship), as Immigration would've been on their arse the minute charges were laid against their son.

Child psychologist in India (http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Crime/2009/07/31/pf-10322906.html) doesn't necessarily translate to child psychologist in Canada...just ask the multitude of Indian doctors and engineers driving taxis in Canada.

as for the mother being evasive and untruthful, rightly or wrongly, no mother wants to see their son in jail.

Pure stupidity!!!!!!!!! He should have gone to jail the moment he was charged. 21 months house arrest is bs for killing someone in a stupid act like that. Secondly to have the chance to drive again is totally irresponsible on the governments part. The mother is a complete knob to even consider giving her son the keys, (she should have kicked his ass) and he is a complete knob to breech his conditions. Perhaps this is a lesson for everyone (including the government who laid the ridiculous sentence.) People are just to stupid to learn and in this day and age where nobody seems to care about anyone but themselves it is very apparent the system needs to start setting heavy penalities and start setting examples of idiots. My sympathy to the family of the innocent man who passed in a reckless case of stupidity.

hahaha I love how when something has to do with a visible minority - it's automatically assumed they are here as an illegal immigrant and that they should be deported.

I wonder how many of us TM3ers are from a immigrant family? As in their parents were not born here or they themselves were not born here.

I wonder how they would feel when other people say they should be deported because they caused something fatal, accident or not. (Knock on wood, TM3 has smart enough drivers not to cause something like this by street racing)

my point exactly.

take the immigrant arguement out of this situation and see the story for what it is, because the background/ family situation is irrevelent.

yea i agree, deportation is a pretty raciest way of dealing with this situation since the family has been here for 10 years
i believe he got what he deserved, and its true maybe he doesnt really care about what he did since he wouldnt even question about moving the car... and i'm assuming that he moved the car within his house arrest period which proves this kid is a complete dumbass as well as his mother for the suggestion
