Hi all!

n00b here. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm not currently a Mazda3 owner, but I've been in love with the Mazda3 for a long time, and hopefully I will be a proud new owner very very soon.

My Dream M3?

White 2009 GT Sedan with Sunroof, Fog lights, Spoiler (Factory 'Foating' type), and all the bells and whistles (except for maybe leather interiror).

Mods:
- Pitch Black Windows
- Rims (sets: 1 White, 1 Gold, 1 Gunmetal or other colour for daily summer driving)
- Side Mirror Indicator Lights
- Possibly beef up the sound system
- Axela badge (instead of "Mazda3")
And I think that's about it. Although I don't mind the Electric Blue Mica, it's a nice colour and the Copper Red Mica is nice as well. If I repaint, I think I would go with a Green of sorts, with metallic flakes so it shines nicely when the sun hits it just right. Mmph! I'm drooling just thinking about it lol.

I currently own absolutely nothing (except for a very nice mountain bike), so the M3 will be my first car, and my baby! lol

/end rant

Anyways, Hi!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but BRAND NEW 2009s are all gone (as I have heard, but I'm sure The Biz would know if they are or not)

But welcome to TM3!

Yeah, I did a lot of calling around in June and July (I called almost every mazda dealership in ontario), there's like one or two left all the way up in quebec and maybe the northern end of the prairies.

Hawkesburry Mazda had -exactly- what I wanted, only problem is they are halfway between Ottawa and Montreal lol. I almost went all the way there and bought it. But I didn't want to be driving 5.5 hours on the highway in a car I would have only owned for a couple hours lol. That's a lot of Klicks on a brand new car in the first few hours lol.

Because one of the car's I had found is a brand spankin' new 07 manual gt with everything I want, save for the manual tranny. So I was curious to know if it was possible to swap tranny's. If it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be, I was going to consider buying the manual and swapping.

Me too! Fingers crossed lol

You're actually serious? You didn't buy a car because you thought driving it on the highway for 5+ hours right off the bat was bad for it? Ha. :whoa

You can drive your new car however you want when you pick it up.

Nonononono. I didn't buy it because it's 5-6 hours away, and that's a long drive by myself late at night after driving 5-6 hours to get there.
I live in the GTA, the longest I've driven on the highway/freeway is maybe 30-40 mins, tops, to get downtown. Plus it ended up being more than I wanted to spend on monthly payments.

Hope you do find what you are looking for and welcome to TM3!

If you do end up finding a MT, why would you waste the money swapping for an AT?!?!
Not to say anything bad here about the AT, but MT is much more fun and you can ALWAYS learn how to drive it. Great car to learn on IMO. I learned on a Civic and both the Mazda3 and the Civic are VERY GOOD clutches. Take alot of abuse.

...... Just something to consider :)

B/C with the steptronic i can have both! :D lol
Plus my family and GF can't drive stick, that and a lot of time when I'm driving I don't want to have to bother with changing gears and stuff.

As much as i sympathize for you here and now that i read your other post about swapping transmission (bad idea), still don't understand why people think this way. Step-tronic is NOT manual. Everyone who has ever driven manual thinks this is hilarious when people that don't actually feel this way. It's not the same AT ALL. I will take my manual 2.0L over an auto 2.3L any day of the week for the sheer "fun factor" of controlling the car, not letting it control me.

I know it's not the same, but at least it's something. It will never be the same and I know it, I've driven stick before, I taught a friend how to drive stick. But Im not the only person driving this car, and I don't want my tranny destroyed (my mother and my gf will never be able to do stick). When I first started my hunt, I wanted manual, unfortunately things changed. But whatevs, I'll get a manual fixer-uper so I can learn more about cars and still have a manual. I miss manual, it's soo much fun.

might i recommend an escort or a corolla "beater" for the winter in manual, they run great and should suffice to learn manual on :)
