I might be changing my 3 in for another car in a month or so and i haven't decided what i should get. im looking for a car under $20,000..

The two that its between right now is a 2009 Lancer Gt or Gts OR a 2004-2005 infiniti G35

I have a few questions though. Does anyone know witch car's insurance would be higher? i am currently 17, 18 in october and i have my G licenses.

Pros:
G35
AWD
280 HP
Luxury car

Cons:
USed so may need breaks, tires, ext
Not many 6 speeds

Pros for Lancer:
Brand new
560 watt sound system with 10 inch sub in trunk
any color i want
has 10 yr drivetrain warranty

cons:
not much hp

so yeah i dont know witch one

Call your insruance company and find out which one is the most expesnsive

I'm not a fan of th lancer so i say go with the 2004-2005 infiniti G35 :)

I'd go for the G35. Keep in mind that the G35X is only sedan (or is it automatic); however, you can't get the X model in a coupe with manual transmission. I'll be looking at an 06/07 later this year or early next year myself.

That said, if your budget is under $20K, I would assume you would get a Lancer with either less mileage or in better condition than an G35 in that price range.

Go with the Lancer, so it doesn't have much HP but you know it can do 210kph LOL and the warranty is awesome!....As much as I like the G35s it's out of warranty and Infinity's are not cheap to repair.

bnew 09 Lancer GT/GTS under 20K? not sure about that.. My brother in law bought his 09 GT three months ago I think it was 29K all in

I'd choose bnew over pre owned warranty wise.. luxury cars are $$$ to maintain

get a tsx. the older infinitis have rust problems, my friend is just getting his 05 repainted as we speak. the lancer is cheap.

tsx is a really well built car, many can be found for under 20k or could neg. down to 20k. go drive one, i think you'll like it,. if you get an acura certified one they come with 160k warranty and the brakes/tires etc. have to be above 70% or something like that which is included in the price

I'd save the money for an education and take the bus to school. You used witch for which twice, and breaks for brakes as well. It's enough to make me "loose" my mind ;-) It also seems kinda weird asking about Infinity and Mitsubishi on a Mazda forum...

Sorry, I'm kind of cranky before I've had my morning coffee.

Couldn't agree more. My wife loves her TSX and WILL NOT drive anything else. Over 120,000 kms and the car is incredibly tight with not so much as a peep out of the engine or interior cabin parts. Very well put together car. She want's to replace it with another TSX but she's not really sold on the new front grille on the car.

if I'm looking for a Witch Car, you can do much better than the good old broom...nowadays, any self-respecting Witch should be riding a Swiffer...

I also saw on Pimp My Witch Ride, where they turned a dust mop into a Dyson Ball Vacuum...BLING BLING...

:chuckle I noticed the same thing. It's becoming a problem with the younger generation these days. Feels weird to say that as I'm not even that old. :pop

+ 1 .

Save for school ... go to school ... make money (most of the time).

Why blow all your hard earned (or not) money on a used car that makes you look like your driving your pops' ride or one that is only marginally better than the 3 ? I am still LOL'ing over the fact you listed the sound system the lancer comes with as a pro. Get your priorities straight. Are you going to be truly satisified with either car ? Or are you going to be selling this new car after a short period like your 3? Doesn't make sense to me.

I was in your position before. I had the money to buy a new car, and was willing to throw it at anything that caught my fancy. But I quickly learned that a new car is not the smartest investment. Sure, the momentary high will last for a year or so but then what?

Save up your pennies for your own place IMO.

But if I had to pick, I would go with a used TSX. The g35's are gas guzzlers and the lancer is not much better than what your driving what now. The TSX is an amazing car with lots of potential, and typically holds a higher resale value.

Dont' take this post as "bashing," but rather, free advice ... hahaha

Both the Cars you listed are not 20,000$ under first of all

If you are taking the used path, get the car from a used dealership, with a warranty prefferably and under 50,00km, that would be my advice

& regarding the bashing going on about setting your priorities on purchasing a car, I believe its immature to judge your decision, no-one on this board knows your financial background, so if you can afford to get a new car and you really want it, go for it, but think hard about it, beacuse its a big decision. Theres other important priorities other than what car you drive, so self reflect and then decide,

and most importantly you dont need a poll to decide your future car, go with what you feel and makes you most happy

Well both cars are under 20k i can find a 04 G35 for around 15k and the base GT price is 22k and then you can haggle the price plus there having a $1500 rebate price..

And as for school i have that all planed out already no need to worry about that. I have money for that saved up already....

Don't forget to factor in the recommended fuel type for the vechicles that you are considering. Most "luxury class" cars either require or recommend premium fuel, which can add to your everyday cost of owning the vehicle.

Yes....i did bold his whole post because all of it is frickin true. If you're 17, and actually have that kinda cash to cough up on another car, use it for your own place....the investment is huge

dont spend money on newer cars, I would rather get something cheap and reliable for a daily drive and go to school and move out or by a house and use that for downpayment or something.
But TSX or some Honda would be my choice

I would go for the G35!!

I have a FX35 as well and let me tell u these cars are indestructible and the Atezza all wheel drive is AMAZING!!!!! Of all the SUV's at the house the FX is the best in the snow!!

The 3.5 believe it or not is great on gas..I have never had and still to this day don't have any problems with car..

I would take a Mazda3 over a Lancer (Which I did, Proud owner of a 2010 Mazda3 GT :D) because it's just more fun to drive. But between the two, I would buy the G35.. Sure the Lancer looks nice but as some people say, the Lancer is like a "Sheep in wolf's clothing". Not so great on power but will turn heads. If you do choose to buy a Lancer, I can get you a good deal on a demo GTS. give me a PM
