Hey guys,

Sorry been tied up at work plus spending my spare time trying to get my brakes fixed lol. If I get my brakes back, I'll be there... If I don't get them back into working order, I may show up anyway and hang with the crew... I don't think I'm ready to pull a Big Dad and hit the track with no brakes ;)

Lol, that ws funny. I am an idiot lol! What is wrong with the brakes? You have 5 days, that is plenty of time. Maybe we can help....

-RJ3-
08-17-2009, 11:36 PM
I heard Peter is selling Brembo BBK for a good price.. Maybe that will fix your issue LOL!

-cj-
08-17-2009, 11:48 PM
Big Dad: I got a bunch of gunk stuck inside the piston shaft and as a result, the pistons don't slide freely... So I'm essentially having to hit the brakes down to the firewall to get them to respond... Jimmy just rebuilt them, so hopefully they get better... but so far they're in bad shape (We're giving it a week to see if it improves, otherwise it'll go to a professional rebuilder) --- Result of an impatient mechanic rebuilding my calipers for powder coating...

RJ3: Don't tempt me!! If it weren't for the fact my summers most likely won't clear them and I'll need new winters, I would have slapped them on already lol.

Never been to one of these, are they for any cars? and whats the difference between lapping and time attack?

lapping is just open lapping on the track while time attack is a timed race where ppl compete within their class. for time attack different cars are grouped into different classes based on several criteria such as drivetrain, tires etc... so yes it is for any cars and you will be going against comparable cars shall you decide to go for time attack

-cj-
08-19-2009, 11:57 PM
It might be my imagination, but I started getting some brake pedal firmness back today... I don't think I'm going to make it to the track event though... Brakes have a long way to go.

I'm 50/50 on whether I'll just come along and hang out though. Should I just pay at the gates if I do?

as it stands, Big Dad is still overall points leader in SS-FWD ahead of Neutral Black/SRT-4. I may be 4th or 3rd in the standings...but I'll most likely not make it out on Oct 4....we'll see!

btw, the video...we decided to head out for some fun with Tim's Cobalt SS (TC)...it was dry...2 laps into it, the skies opened...and I couldn't use my wipers cuz of the way the camera was mounted on the windshield...but hey, you gotta man it up to get some good footage.

Big Dad did 1:22.6, Neutral Black did 1:23.2, and I did 1:25.5 (my personal best at Cayuga). The 1st and 2nd place cars were from Gilmen...a silver EK Civic and Ray's own Prelude....and I'd rather forget their times...lol...

Btw I forgot to mention: great driving! How did your tire situation go? Did you guys run with your track tires at all that day? DSC?

Big Dad
08-24-2009, 11:41 AM
Raymond ran a 121.77 for second place. We ran track tires all day. There really wasn't that much rain. It sprinkled for 10 minutes twice through out the day. Just enough to screw up the drag racing, but the lapping goes on regardless.

actually the mazdaspeeds already have a sponsorship in the works as for the umbrellas - tent works much better

-cj-
08-24-2009, 02:29 PM
LOL. Mat goes all out.

I really gotta go out of my way now to make the next one... Maybe all the heat will fix my brakes once and for all. My brakes are probably 85-90% there, but not 100% yet... The brake peddle is firmer, but I think there's still resistance pushing out the piston... First brake application is soft and I have to get on it more than I normally do, however the second time I hit the brakes it's 100% and has instant grab. It's like I got the piston (I assume it's only one that's messed up at this point) past the resistance point and it's primed and ready... Car is still getting 380 km out of a tank (50% city driving) and used to get 430-460. Edit: I'm using the AC 100% of the time now though....

Next step is send the calipers to a professional rebuilder (Jimmy's advice)... :/

Anyways, enough about me ;) Did you shoot any more vids Fobio?

however, being slow relative to the rest of the world in understanding what umbrella girls mean?!...lol...well, only a smack talking hard-parker will point that out themselves, but I guess you've always won in "looking fast" without actually doing it...
