cleaning seat stains

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have a question out there for all the parents.....

I'm sure that most of you have had your kids drink from their bottles in your ride for those long trips. But what did you do when some of that milk spilled on the cloth seats?!?!?!?!?

I've done a search and found more results for carpet stains then for seat stains.

I've read some suggestions as "ProSolve" and "FOLEX"...... any others? Prices? Where to pick up these products?

Using a steam cleaner will get that out quick although it will cost you a bit. Try using vinegar and hot water combined. Or some detergent and hot water but maybe test an inconspicuous spot first before trying any of the above. If all else fails, Kaval should be able to help you out ! Also try what I use on my car's seats which is that Simoniz Fabric Upholstery Cleaner. You can find all these products at your local CT.

I have a 2 year old daughter and man does she make a mess. I use the folex (canadian tire, walllmart) for the carpet stains then I use steam cleaner that I bought from XSCargo last year for about $20. The steam cleaner works great and you could use it around the house too (eg. stains on dining chairs)

a few weeks ago, I drove my mom's car to help a friend with his car... when I got home I noticed I left some grease stains on the seat... so I got out my Wurth Clean-solv (only commercially sold) and that took it right off like warm butter... 3M adhesive remover does the same thing... it stinks but it cleans upholstery good despite not intended for this purpose :)

I just came back from Crappy Tire and Wal Mart.... couldn't find that FOLEX stuff anywhere?!?!?....... (mind you my mind was elsewhere so I could have bypassed it). What section is this stuff found in? Worst case scenario, I'll just as CC next time I go there....

In canadian tire the folex is in the house hold cleaning section

Since I needed a moment to leave the house again, I decided to tryout Loblaws... and low n' behold I found the ProSolve there. It was only $4 so I figure it's worth a shot...

To get salt out folex is the shit MK! next time there's a Hamilton meet I'll lend you some of mine. Or go pick some up from Canadian tire. It's difficult to find. But so worth it when you do!! Very plain looking bottle too. Mines a white spray bottle with green writing. No fancy labels. Just good stuff inside.

Spot shot is good too. It's a carpet cleaner but when I had my son at my ex bf's house he decided it would be fun to reach into his diaper and share the contents with the carpet and that stuff got the stains (and smell) out fantastically. It was cream coloured carpet too :P

I didn't have time to try out the ProSolve stuff last night as I passed out pretty early, but I'll take a crack at it this evening after work. I'll update this thread to let you all know how it turned out.... hopefully for the better :)

I tried folex it was poo :( I think it burned my carpet.... then again so does every carpet cleaner ahhaha..

For stubborn salt stains you can try a cheap homemade solution. Boil some water, put it in a pot (that can withstand heat obviously!) and mix in some vinegar (about 1 part vinegar for 3 parts water). Then pour a bit of that on the salt stains (again pour carefully as the mixture will be hot).

Wait a few seconds then use a cloth to rub out the stains. If the stain is particularly tough and hard, then use a brush.

I've done this on some of my old cars and it works like a charm.

The only issue is of course a bit of left over vinegar smell. So what I do (after the stain is removed and the carpet has dried a bit) is sprinkle a bunch of Baking Soda on the carpet and then vacuum it off the next day. That takes away the vinegar smell and the carpet looks great!

I've taken off some unbelievably hard and nasty salt stains using this method.

OK...... so I had a chance to finally try the ProSolve this evening. Here are my findings:

- messy when you spray it around
- easy to apply as you just spray.. let it foam.. and wipe dry after 3 minutes
- depending on the depth and size of the stain, my need to apply more then once
- overall, it got the work done and removed the stains :)
