Attending a trial for running a red light soon, what was you defense statement on the court and what was the result if you had experience.
In my case, it was an early yellow when I cross the intersection and the police is at the parallel intersection and chase me from there after her light turn green. (McCowan/Sheppard) I told her it was a yellow and she was firm that I ran a red light. :flaming
I know there is a chance that she won't show up, but I still need to be prepared in case she is attending.
Any inputs will be appreciated!

Red light tickets are real had to get out of there is no valid excuse that works.
No defence for it.
Only hope is the cop show up

I am fighting my red light ticket as I was already in the intersection when the light turned yellow than red. The person in front of me must have had a brain fart and sat there till way after it was red so I couldn't move.
If you blew the light, whether it was yellow or red it's basically your word against theirs. I'm not sure what your defense will be other than "it wasn't red".

The only defense I can think of that would sound reasonable is to say that you did not feel it was safe to stop according to your judgment.
As far as I remember, when you see a yellow, you are to make a decision whether it is safer for you to stop or continue going.

If you have no other prior tickets, mention it - also bring up how the light was yellow when you were in the interesection and it would not have been safe to stop.
"I have had no other tickets, and obey the law" - they may consider lowering the ticket / points. If you DID actually run the red - you're on your own :)

I do have speeding tickets before and that was a yellow. Just turned yellow as well. I know you shouldn't run a yellow by law, but who will stop the car like mad to avoid running a yellow when you sure you will pass the intersection before it goes to red. So I guess it will be better for me to say it will be unsafe to do a full stop in front of the intersection...

You've probably already checked but make sure she signed your ticket. I had a cop forget to sign my ticket and they had to throw out the charge as the ticket wasn't a legal document.

Need something clarified - what exactly is an "early yellow".

I make a judgement call on lights like that. 99% of the time I stop at the light. It's really down to whether or not it's safe for you to stop for a light, especially with an impatient dingbat behind you who expects you to run it. If you feel it's not safe to stop, that's your only real defence.
Unfortunately, everyone's definition of "safe to stop" is different.

key points to prove!!! If you can state you were unable to stop due to a car on your bumper... you may be golden

You pretty much have to say "I didn't feel it was safe for me to stop without him rear-ending me into the intersection", otherwise a counter-argument would be "well, I didn't see the car behind you run the light, so they stopped. Why didn't you?"

well if they were tail gating, I wouldn't want to risk assuming that they are going to stop.
