I was wondering if the push start button on the new 3 can be installed on the 04-09 mazda3/MS3. I'd like to have this option on my car but I'm curious if someone knows, interested or have done this mod into their car.

No, there is too much involved. I'm not going to go into details but maybe someone else will.

There is a possibility to install one but it wouldn't function exactly like the 2010.

I'd love to see the ignition wiring diagram for the new 3. We can then see how complicated the install would be. Anybody know where to get it?

One 'word' will scare ya at the wiring and modules required.

Yeah.
Isn't that how the new keyless system works for door unlock and ignition start?

for manual cars, a "push button start" works just like the clutch...

try twisting the key ALL THE WAY, and THEN step on the clutch...voila, you a "push start button" that you operater with your feet...

now, if you just relocated that clutch switch to a "button", and you're set.

guys have already found ways to disable the clutch switch for clutch-less starts...nothing stops you from relocating that clutch switch to a button...but then again, I'm no installer, so take it with a box of salt.

That's a pretty good idea, didn't think of that.

You still need the key to be in the temporary enagaged position to start the car on top of the clutch switch.

sonic is right. the clutch bypass switch is actually inline with the starter wire of the car. its also a safety switch. if i do get this push button start, i still would wanna depress on the clutch before starting the car to remind me to put the car in neutral before starting.

i wanted to replace the whole key ignition with a push button. it actually works almost the same as the key. you press it once to turn on ACC, press it twice and it turns on IGN and then hold the clutch, brake and button to start the car. this is the setup on my friends new corrolla which is pretty neat.

This setup is definitely doable but I'd like just the one push start button to act as turning the ACC, IGN, Unlocking Steering, and Starting the Car. No Key at all.
