Someone I know is turning 30. Anyone have any good ideas on how to celebrate? Something laid back and in Toronto. Someone suggested those waterfront boat cruises...are those any good?

TIA.

They are ok, but if you're not having a fun time, you're stuck on the boat for x amount of hours before you dock again. And you have to hope that no one gets "sea sick"

I would say road trip to Darrien Lake and ride the crazy roller coasters all day, and if you want chill out at a lounge back in Toronto. I reccommend Foundation Room. (Church/Front St.)

Or if you just stick around here, have a themed party - but you have to go out. The crazier the better, you'll be the attention whores for the night which will be loads of fun.

Or say eff it and go to VEGAS or MIAMI!

Anything that involves a Gentlemen's Club is usually pretty good.

Too cold for the boat cruise thing at night now, and everyone I've gone on the food has been crap.

I second Fangs idea.

Rent a cottage or go camping and enjoy nature.

Nature? Cottage?? This isnt a retirement party LOL :P jk...

They dont call it 'dirty thirty' for nothing.

You can get crazy deals for Vegas right now. Tourist season is over but majority of the big hotels/casinos still have their pools opened till end of September. I stayed at MGM last September and it was amazing.

I'd say do Vegas :)

cold for waterfront cruise now... it was chilly when we went July 4th and last night CNE was quite cold.

its expensive like $100 per person... food is nothing special but buffet style...

It can get a little boring too (we went to watch fireworks so we easily killed an hour)
No dancing or mingling really... just really sitting around and chatting with ur friends for 3 hours + eating. We just took lots of photos

hmm as for ideas?
there is always niagara (tho not in TORONTO but short drive away) =P

We paid $300 a night for a room at Fallsview. Its just crazy to think that you can go to Vegas for 5 days/4 nights fly out of Buffalo for ~$400

Plus, if you're looking for nice weather (which Vegas has),gentlemen's clubs (which Vegas has) and enjoying "nature" (which Vegas has)...there's no question! VEGAS! All in favour...

For $400? Where would you book to get a deal like that? priceline.com?

that's why I use betterbidding.com first. It tells you what hotels hotwire is giving in which area's, and the star ratings.

I just used Travelocity but the key thing is to fly out of BUFFALO.
Wayyyyyyyy better deals.

Put it this way.
Flying out of Pearson, staying at MGM Grand 4 days 3 nights was $600

Flying out of Buffalo, staying at MGM Grand 5 days, 4 nights was $400

Pearson has crazy fees

Pearson sucks donkeys.

I fly out of Buffalo to Miami on Saturday for $300 for 5 days 4 nights. all in flight and hotel. SUCK IT PEARSON!!!!

itravel2000.com has some decent deals sometimes too for trips. It's just harder to get people to committ to that if it's short notice.

GOOD LUCK!

Plus I love the Buffalo Airport. Park & Fly is so much cheaper too. Its so calm and clean.

I flew to LA from Buffalo (connected in Chicago) for $180 all fees/taxes in.

Buffalo Airport FTW

Nothing to be worried about, leaving your car in Buffalo. It's not different than Toronto!

I left mine there last year while I went to Vegas. 5 days and not a single scratch *knock on wood*
