I don't exactly have all the cash in the world right now, so I'd like to put my stock Downpipe back on myself if possible. I'm just worried about the O2 sensors. Are they easy to break? How should I take them out? Spray them with WD-40 a couple times and let it sit for 5 minutes or so then try? Will I need an O2 specific socket or will an adjustable wrench be enough to get them off? Anything else I should watch out for when doing the swap?

I just don't want to break something that costs more to replace than getting the DP swapped back by Jimmy.

Yeah, the o2 sensors are sensitive in some respects. The best thing to do is as you have described. Get a good product to loosen up the o2 sensor and use a proper o2 sensor socket to remove them. Go slow; if things seize up, use more wd40, or whatever your poison. Give it a good amount of time to set in then try removing the sensor again. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

If you need some moral support I can drop by with some beers and cheer you on!

Use some PB Nut Blaster (Buster) on them starting a week prior to your removal.. Spray it every other day and let it penetrate....

Wouldn't it just burn off when I drive the car?

And Jason, that's what I basically figured to do. Just making sure that's the general consensus. You're welcome to come by and watch/help. Maybe with the money saved I can get more gas for my r/c and we could play around with them after. :chuckle

I was thinking about doing it sometime this week end coming up.

I say ditto with the PB Blaster. It works better than WD 40 I find.

if you use wd-40 i'm gonna b*tch slap you....use pb blaster works extremely better..

One tip is to take them out when they are hot, they come out easier when they are hot.

I did mine on jack stands (not fun at all), how are you doing yours?

when you put your downpipe back on start the lower right bolt first. had to do it for the aftermarket.

also i say put some anti-seize stuff on the bolts before you put them back on. If you ever want to take it back of it will be much easier

I'm doing it on jack stands. That's how my buddy and I put in my race pipe a few weeks ago.

Nah, just spray it on overnight. Some might burn off, but that's alright. And like others said, try to pull off the sensor when things are hot. Get yourself some good gloves =)

Yeouch! I paid $92 cdn shipped to my door for a Denso secondary. Granted, I have a 2005 hb, not a speed. For some reason, all sensors from 2006 onwards appear to have increased in price.

Nope, just don't want the risk of blowing my engine anymore. All my aftermarket parts have worked fine.

No. Just don't feel like taking the risk anymore. Not worth it anymore to me.
