Hey guys,

Over the past 2-3 days I noticed that when I coast and slow down in 3rd (and also 2nd) gear I hear a knocking near/in the engine which gets slower until I stop. It only happens when no gas is applied and I'm doing less than 40km/h. I tried keeping the clutch down while it happened to see if it'd go away but it didn't. If I let off the gas pedal in 2nd or 3rd I will hear an initial knock which I can also feel in the steering wheel (it doesn't shake or vibrate but you can sense the knock through it). Something's loose I'm guessing.

Any thoughts?

I'm really surprised nobody had any ideas regarding the issue. I guess I'll be the first one to provide the answer in my case.

I'm at Agincourt Mazda right now and apparently it needs a new engine mount. With the TM3 discount I'm looking at ~$220 for the repair. Not bad I guess. Anything under $500 to me is not bad lol. It could've been MUCH worse (ie: bearings, which the tech mentioned).

I had told you it sounded like bearings and I had told you it would cost you a lot of money. Just be glad it wasn't the bearings like I had previously thought LOL

Didn't think it would be the engine mount though...

Yup engine mount.

Kristina, you'd like this part. I went shopping for FALL gear while it was getting fixed. Saw tons of sweaters, jackets, hats, boots...so much to buy! Fall fashion is lookin good, BUT I had to constantly remind myself I had a $250 engine mount to take care of and a Macbook Pro in line. Back on the rack went the 3/4 grey coat I was trying on lol.

So yeah, $250 later my car's back to normal. Crisis averted.

rear engine mount ?

most likely passenger engine mount as the rubber in that gets brittle from the heat and shears away underneath.

the passenger mount is about $99 and labour at a dealership is about 1 hour. avante quoted me $250 months ago... i got the part off joe and had jimmy install it for less than half that quote.

I'll have to check the report again to find out which engine mount it was. With my schedule, I can't afford to wait and "hopefully" book a same day appointment with Jimmy. I already had $50 in for them to assess it. They had the part in stock so it worked out well for me. I'll pay whatever it is to have it done asap.

for sure man...sometimes you gotta pay for convenience and, if there's any Service Dept that merits our business, it is Agincourt Mazda :headbang
