Hi All,
I've been reading lots of suggestions to change the rear engine mount(s) (are there one or two rear mounts?)
The questions I have are:
What brand do you suggest? (links appreciated to buy online)
Is this something I can do myself?
Does this void my warranty?
Thanks!

Heya!
I would say go with a CPe mount. You can get it from local vendors but it maybe a TAD bit more expensive and a longer wait time. I ordered mine directly through CPe and they shipped it in 3 days.
Theres other mounts Medieval, and StreetUnit however the Medieval one is too harsh for my liking (lots of vibrations) and the StreetUnit one has had a few fail. They claim it was fixxed but I dunno one time is too many for me. The CPe one IMO is the best one because its 1 piece machined aluminum and as well its not as harsh as some of the others.
I dont think it would void your warranty, but again its dealers descrestion i think on alot of this type of stuff.

I recently installed the Corksports Inserts which cost 45$ CDN shipped. I bought it off www.protegegarage.com which was backordered for 3 weeks but then shipped overnight as soon as their stock came in.
Its not a replacement like the CPe or Streetunit but I wanted the inserts just so I can remove them incase I have to have some warranty work done. The install only took me 30mins. Theres no noticeable vibration at all while driving or even with the AC on. I notice that theres less torque steer/wheel hop with the mount on. I usually see the DSC kick in on every part WOT at first/2nd gear but with the mounts, it doesnt turn on at all. The only vibration is at start up. Overall its a cheap mod well worth buying.

Would be great if we could get a response from Mazda canada, or at the very least a dealer.
I know it'll never happen but .... Dreams are fun!
I am thinking of doing same mod. Let me know what you decide.
Cheers,
Greg

Yea.
The other thing I'm curious about with these are the vibrations people are talking about. Will adding one of these mounts make the ride more harsh?

Interesting question...
The only thing the "tech" told me about that mod..is it pretty much nullified his tire hop.
I don't imagine it would make the ride more "harsh"

So is the cpe mount the best one to get then?

I called Guelph Mazda this morning. They said that changing to an aftermarket mount would not void my warranty but (obviously) the new mount would not be covered by Mazda.
They also told me that changing to complete aftermarket exhaust system would not void the Mazda warranty.

No - but I guess I could. I spoke to the service manager who authorized the AEM CAI install when the turbo was replaced under warranty a few weeks ago.
They said the could do the mount install as well as a complete aftermarket exhaust install and that it wouldn't void anything - just that there would not be any warranty on those parts.

That's basically the experience my friend told me from Dave Wood...they basically installed everything for him except the AP...

So they will replace a smoking turbo if you have a downpipe on

Yea, I don't know. They already replaced the turbo... it better not happen again.
As far as the downpipe goes - I'm looking to do the entire exhaust over the next few weeks but I will double check before I actually go through with it. The idea is that if Mazda does the work there will be no excuses as they are the ones doing the labour.
