View Full Version : Addition of keyless entry to 2010 M3 GX
I'm new to the forums as I've just bought my Mazda a few weeks ago. It is a 2010 Mazda 3 GX. I love the car, but hate the fact that I have no keyless entry. My question is this: what do I need in order to get keyless entry on my ride? I would prefer OEM parts. Also, the car has power door locks, so I'm wondering if all I really need is the transmitter and reciever, as well as a mazda dealership that'll install the reciever. I hope someone can help! Cause I sure as hell can't find anything on the '10 M3s in terms of the keyless entry.

I don't think there is an easy way to do it since the wiring isn't there
your cheapest hope is to just get an aftermarket alarm that almost always have remotes

It is available from the dealership... it is aftermarket but looks OEM. $296.65 installed plus taxes

Wow! I didn't know it was that easy. I'll definitely call my dealership and ask them for a quote. Are you sure that it is available for the 2010 M3?

sorry to say but for that price, I would rather go aftermarket, with security or even a starter. that also covers the keyless entry part.

Will this void the warranty on the car because it's aftermarket? I'm thinking of having this done too.
Thanks!

if you do it through mazda no it will not because mazda outsources it to a 3rd source which is contarcted through mazda. So if you have a problem with it you bring it to mazda and they will call their 3rd party and they will diag it. But seeing how you already have the factory locks i would suggest you talk to the dealer and see all parts involved for the oem setup. On previous generation 3's 04-09 you were able to add in the antenna and the antenna module as the wiring was already there. As for the pjb i beleive you would have needed the dealer to program that function in. All the pins were on the passenger junction box (PJB) and fuses were there already aswell i did attempt this once on an 07 but never heard the end result.

I got my 2010 GX this week. I asked a keyless system to be installed by the dealer. They told me it was pretty good and I thrusted them.
Unfortunately, it is pretty bad. The remote is cheap and ugly. Also, it takes a good 3 secondes before the lights flash after I lock or unlock the doors.
Anyone could tell me what system it is from the look of the remote from my signature?

That looks like a prestige alarm judging by the colours and pattern on the remote.
they did NOT instal a OEM system that is 100% aftermarket

Do you think I could somehow switch the remote with another model and re-program it myself without changing the receiver?
I can see a unit flashing red behind the steering wheel attached to a red push button (reset ?), but I'm unable to access it.
I would have asked for another accessories instead of getting this crap.

Unfortunatly the unit you have is made to work on a frequency and if you get another remote you must make sure that the remote has the same frequency which the oem remotes don't run on. There are certain specific alarms that do work with oem but good luck finding them lol. What is this described red flashing light you want to adjust or change ? Little confused on that part

Btw going to a dealer and asking for an option to be included in the purchase price is like getting a contractor to build ur dream house when nothing is stated in writing, you might want an amazing 300 dollar keyless entry system and they give u a 50 dollar one, I had an issue like this when I was about to purchase a 08 civic si and they told me you can have any 1 HFM (Honda Factory performance added) for free, turns out fogs that were 6 bills were not included, 18 inch rims not included and pretty much nothing over 150 bucks was included, I said bye and went to buy a mazda

So will the warranty of the car will be voided if we go somewhere else and install aftermarket?

Hi everyone
I also have a Mazda 2010 GX and cannot decide weather I get a alarm system and keyless entry aftermarket or from the dealer. The only thing that keeps me holding it back is the warranty of the car. will it get voided if I use after market product or get it install lets say Future shop or best buy.
Hope you guys can help me decide.
thanks

Yes if they screw up your electrical system otherwise I don't think they make a fuss about it. Try to find the shop where the dealer bring the car in for these electrical service.

If the dealer can prove that the aftermarket parts caused the failure then the warranty on that particular item will be void. Unless the dealer is nice enough and tells you to have the system removed and come back for further diag. but warranty will not be voided on the entire car
