:blah:blahi bought my 2010 3 sport last month, everything has been smooth until tonight, i've put 3,400 kms on the car so far, and it seems whenever the engine is winding down after i shift gears it sounds like a whinning grinding sound. I ran it into my buddy who is a mechanic and he hoisted it up and he thought it was the heat shield, he checked it , thought mazda will tell me it is an exhaust prone, and they might put a clamp on it?! or it might be a leak, all i know is it sounds like its getting worse. Im taking it to my dealership first thing tomorrow morning?!!:flaming:flaming:flaming:flaming

Well, that is the hazard of buying a car the first year the model is produced. The prior model went through a bunch of teething pains as well. Just check out the year-year TSBs and you will the '04s have a whole bunch, every year after fewer and fewer, right up through the last year for the model, 2009. I am sure Mazda will set it straight though, so no worries.

i took it into the mazda dealership this morning and they told me it was the tensioner?! something to do with the belt?! they didn't sound quite sure about it .. so they said they were ordering a part in for it and it was ok to drive. My gas mileage seems like shit so far today though. i have no clue! they said it is probably a defect from where it was manufactured.

Find a new dealership! How could they sign off on that job when they obviously wouldve heard the same noise?
Bring it back...again
and if the problem still there - bring it back again.
Just make sure they fix it and not stall until the waranty is up...years from now.
Is that sound only when you press the clutch?

the noise is louder then it was yesterday, when the car is idiling there is a crackling/poping sound coming from the right side of the engine... when im accelerating the crackiling sound increases and when the engine is deaccelerating there's kinda like a scraping noise, i made ANOTHER appointment tomorrow at my dealership.. sooo,, got my fingers crossed cause im getting tired of this!!!

Go to another dealership (or try it one more time at this one )** and MAKE sure you get a loaner car... state to a "manager" that with you driving the car the problem is getting worse... see if they let you take out a leased 3 for a couple days for free (you shouldn't have to pay for a loaner car) and make sure they get the issue fixed. And don't take NO for an answer lol .... hell when I had to get my windows re-tinted (mazda promoted the guy and stated they'd tint my windows) I wanted them perfect no bubbles .. went on a friday and had a loaner car for 3 days ... So I recommend leaving the car there... it's just gonna be worse if you keep driving it. Good luck and let us know the outcome

So i took the car into mazda today, they mechanic took it in for only 45 minutes and now they said it was my a/c belt, so they told me they ordered a new belt and said it was under warranty... ****inggg right its under warranty , the car is a month old and i've already had it serviced 3 times in the past week, new belt, acbelt, tensioner... i definitley bought a lemon!!

Or the mechanic is a lemon.... they probably reused the AC belt when they replaced the tensioner, and the AC belt is a one-time use item... once it has been removed a new needs to be put on.

... new belt, acbelt, tensioner...
FREE repairs = you win
I don't think it's a lemon...more like mis-diagnosed.
I'm glad it's going to work out for you

I'd have to agree. Seems like poor job at diagnosing it properly.

I would suggest taking the car for a test drive and bringing it back if the problem remains. Don't take the car home if it's still broken...

So i just got back from the mazda dealership, and my car is finally fixedd!! well so far so good, i guess what they found was a rock stuck in my belt , which tore the outer part of the a/c belt, anyways they replaced the belt and the car sounds fine! i hope i wont be back there until i hit 8,000k for an oil change!

wow, I wonder what the chances are of that happening... a rock getting stuck in a belt...
crazy!

talk about bizarre
but it could still be a poorly designed splash shield that have allowed something to work into the belts... there's always a possibility that a defect allowed this to happen!
