Don't know about contractors, but if you'll be living in this home for 5 to 10 years, than seriously look at spending the cash and getting a Carrier MVP furnace. It will save you a lot of money in both electrical bills (fan is DC powered) and gas bills (multi-stage high efficiency). We've had ours for 6 years now and it has been problem free and saved us about $100.00 per month in the cold winter months from the very old 2 stage furnace we used to have.

If you don't plan on living in the home for the next 3-5 years - you can rent it.
I believe it's 10-25 / month

i had to get a new furnace, ($4000) i have a person that we use at my work, he is in K-W, i don't know he will go out there. Long story short when my furnace died in the winter, he brought over little heaters so that my pipes didn't freeze, until he got his men over to put in the new furnace. (Was shut down saturday morning, due to safety, installed monday morning with a furnace)

We now have a Goodman furnace - rented from Reliance or something like that. Includes free service, yearly cleaning and furnace replacement in case it's "shot". We JUST had it installed, so too early to tell you about service. The install went smoothly. Goes for around $40/mo.

I'm a gas tech go for Armstrong Air & 95% LOTS of rebates to save from a bill of $4500-5000 upfront to save at rebates around $1800 but you need a eco energy audit done

you are going to need and audit of your old system (cost you money) then you'll need and audit of your new system (cost you more money). in order to get a rebate...

Ok, so I'm in need of a new furnace too. And was wondering if anyone has recommendation on installer that sell both the high efficiency furnace and install for the downtown area.

And is the rebate program still on? I'm looking through the web and I don't see it.

hey i do the installs for my company i work, for the rebates that are out right now are not worth it since you need a audit which is 400-700 dollars and they only giving back 750 on the rebate

yes the rebate is back on - but as mentioned, not worth it if all you are doing is just the furnace.

well actually that's not true. It greatly depends on what type of furnace you want to begin with. Single stage high efficiency furnaces save you money upfront since they are cheaper than the 2 stage variables that qualify for the rebates. But if someone was already considering a 2 stage variable, then rebates are there for it. The initial audit is roughly 400 bucks. Then you have a second audit done which is about 300, which 150 is refunded by the government (not sure if this is still applicable since Ontario was the one who offered this part, need to contact my energy audit partners). Then you get 790 from the government, and 250 from the OPA. So if your considering a 2 stage anyways, it is still worth it to consider the rebate program. Major downfall these days is that only the Canadian government is offering rebates, the province of Ontario backed out last year.

Atlas Care.

pricey but they do a good job and sell a good product. Installed a 95% high efficiency furnace from them last year.
