I just bought a 'new to me' 2006 HB Black Mica 2.3L / 5 speed. 48k

Full load - leather, heated seats, premium sound system, sunroof - in dash bagel maker - the works.

Man!!! What a blast to drive this toy. I wish I had known what fun they were about 5 vehicles ago. It really does put the zoom-zoom into the driving experience.

One question - How do I know if its a GS, S or GX ? And what do all these option codes mean?

One more question: How do I get to sleep at night, knowing that morning is around the corner and I get to drive this car?

Are you in Canada or the U.S.?

If it has leather it would be a GT+lux package in Canada.

I'm in Canada. Picton, ON to be exact. I bought the car in Waterloo. It is a Canadian car according to the carproof.

Mazda.ca>Vehicles>Archives>2006>Mazda3>Sport>Features & Specifications.

This will show you the options. :)

But since you have leather, like I said before, you definitely have a GT. :)

You are from picton...you can always go to Bay mazda in Belleville and give them your serial number and they can find out for you..but like cwp_sedan said if it's got leather then it's a GT

Well after doing a brief search, it must be a GT.

leather
bose sound with 6 pack CD

I thought that GT would be more of a performance package as opposed to a trim package. ... and why don't they badge the cars with a GT, GS, or S logo?

I still think it needs eyebrows and a nicer front bumper with some ground effects. Maybe a lip kit or a whole new bumper entirely.

As for price, let's just say I'm driving it like I stole it!

I did have to replace the rims, since two were damaged (one was pooched entirely). I scooped a brand new take-off set of snowflakes and tires with 19 kilometers on them for 7 bones. I put the brand new Toyos that came with the car on the snowflakes for now. I intend to put the Toyos on some nice after market rims, and put the Goodyear RS A's on the snowflakes for winter use.

I have to learn a little about offsets before I buy. I like the American Racing Casinos in black/machined lip, but they are a 48 mm offset and the spec for OEM is 52.5mm. I guess I should take this over to the Tech section of the board.

These tires are crap, especially for winter use. Seriously get some real winter tires.

I know that the Goodyear RS A's are crap, but they are brand new. So I'll wear them out. If it ain't broke, why spend more money?

Besides, I learned how to drive in Quebec using the best Italian winter tires available - Baldini's (I survived):loco;

Not to worry aristiedis, I work in Trenton, so I get to drive through three snowbelts blowing in off the lake!

Waupoos - Mountainview - Brighton/Trenton

But if it gets real bad I'll simply drive my '05 Ford Ranger XR4 Offroad to work (Easy guys, it is, after all, part Mazda.)

Welcome and congrats on the car.

Seriously though. I don't think you understand just how crap the RS A's are! My mom got a 08 GT November 07. I drove it sometime in Dec. with very LIGHT snow and it had problems. Less than 1000KM on the car and it had troubles on stock tires with very minimal snow!

I've driven on all-seasons on all cars to till I got my Mazda3. No substitute for winter tires. They really are that bad!

From the reviews that I've read on the RS A's, it is definetly thumbs down. I have personally never had good luck/wear/traction on any G**dY**r product on any of my vehicles.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... maybe one car. I had an ex detectives '79 Ford LTD with a 351 xp drivetrain that I scooped at an auction. It was a 2 door , no trim, black wheels, dog dishes, eagles, and one hell of an attitude. The car went like snot. The tires lasted a weekend. That was a really, really, really fun car!

Broken belts, fast wear, crappy performance, yes. But, Hey! These ones are virtually free!

I'll be OK.

..................... then I'll change them.

I hated the RS-Ass. They were even shit in rainy weather I would never ever risk my life on those tires in the winter. Is your life worth more than $500?

I know that the wear factor on the RSA's is non-existent. 35k at most.

But are they really that bad in winter?

mazdilla

OK! OK! I give up on the RSA's.

I'm taking this tire issue over to the wheels and tires board.

Just checking out the sponsor's packages, but I have to get up in the morning, so I'm off to bed.

I live out Belleville / Trenton way. Does anyone know of deals around these parts?

Thanks, and good night all!
