You have to admit. The interior of a Mazda 3 is downright boring as to finish. Nice and tight, but booooooooooring!

Has anyone here tried one of those aplique trim kits that you see on eBay?

I kinda like the look of the 'real' carbon fiber one. Its the 39 piece one that just about does the whole interior.

I got the piano black one... I was pleased with it, the only reason why I took it out was because my screen did not blend with the theme.

I can't remember the brand name - but it was a super-low budget version of the OEM trim covers. LOL - 1) the pieces didn't line up properly 2) some pieces didn't even have the adhesive backing 3) others would have to be "trimmed-2-fit"

just go to show "you get what you pay for"

Well, I ordered the set after reading a pile of positive feedbacks on the Mazda 3 kits.

I'll start an album before/after the install and let you know how it works out.

I've seen these on ebay aswell. The carbon fibre kit caught my eye. My other option was to pop the panel peices and paint with krylon. I was thinking silver to match the few pieces mazda started e.i. door handle, glove box latch. I have the spray on carbon fibre over the display from mazda so I wanted to continue that theme. Tough call, keep us posted though. Depending on your succes I might pick up a set aswell.

Ok. Here's what has transpired.

I received the kit. A couple of pieces were missing (top half of the steering wheel emblem insert and the panel piece that goes above the AC controls). A couple of the other pieces had flaws in them, so I emailed the seller pics and a list.

He got on it right away, as he is the owner of the company and was quite p*ssed that the kit left his building that way. New pieces have been produced and were mailed last Friday (Nov 13). I should get them soon.

What I have installed so far looks pretty amazing. Even Jamie, Parts Mgr at Bay Mazda thought it was really sharp looking in a black interior. My wife, who is always a critic, loves it too. She commented, "Wow! That's pretty sharp. Looks really cool!" I never usually get a response out of her for anything I do on cars.

I'm waiting for the new/replacement parts to take a final pic and post it.

Stay tuned!

Once you see the pics, you won't be disappointed. It is real carbon fiber, not cheapo printed vinyl.

The seller wants full pics of the final install as well. (and I get a rebate!)

You probably won't use all of the pieces, such as the rear door latch trim surround and vent surrounds. They don't look right. Too thin. The steering wheel emblem insert looks just wrong, and to think that little piece(s) sells for $12 on eBay alone. The door elbow pad trim looks awesome.

And our Canadian dollar is strong too. Less than $200 shipped to your door with a $19.95 declaration value! No tax or duty!

You're not gonna believe this.

I got the replacement pieces.

They were the wrong colour. Silver not BLACK carbon fiber.

Back to square one:

Emailed the owner.
He freaked!
I laughed.
He is personally making and shipping the parts. (Shoulda done that on the first recall.)

Oh, well.... Rome wasn't built in a day.

Do you think we could get a GB going on this? Seems like we could get quite a few people in on it and if you have the owner's contact info, I'm sure we could work something out. He'd probably inspect everything personally too. I'd love to get a kit.

I've looked into it, and he was to put a price list together. Hadn't heard from him in two weeks and found out he had a serious car accident and is still recovering in hospital.

Their is a new person taking over his accounts temporarily, so I'll keep you posted. It's the holidays, and considering the circumstances, I guess we should be patient.

Easy to find. Here's one from eBay in Canada. He's taking best offers.

I like the look. Pictures don't do it justice.

Would I get another from these guys? Probably not. The last pic shows the CF grain opposing each other. &^%*$# !

Their quality control is terrible, but then there were other extenuating circumstances as listed above in the thread. I did end up with a bunch of extra pieces in the long run.

There are other little pieces in the kit for the glove box latch and lock, also some trim rings for the dash vents (all 4). That's overkill IMO. A little brushed aluminum is needed. The overhead console is trimmed as well, which is nice, 'cause now you can find it in the otherwise cream-coloured sea of dryer lint material that is used for a roof liner.

Oh, yeah! There's another piece that surrounds the center vents, but I'm saving that for the CP-e triple gauge center dash pod with Autometer Pro Comp Carbon Fiber gauges. Water temp - Oil pressure - Volts

I also have a real CF shift boot, MS3 SS, and NRG Fat Boy CF knob to go in when the weather is more cooperative.

Those pics will follow when done.

Say what you want, but one of the pieces that was defective (cut and coated poorly) had the actual fibers exposed all along the edge.

It's not a print, just a shitty camera.

Hey everyone. So I looked at mazdilla little CF "project" and I love it. I noticed people were looking at doing a group buy. Has anything been decided or ordered yet? I'm looking at doing the same thing in CF so I'd be interested in joining.

mazdilla - I noticed you got the Mazda3 pedals. I talked to the dealership and they said that I can't replace just the pedal pad but I have to replace the whole pedal. Was that the case for you? How difficult was it to do the swap?

I was trying to organize a group buy, but after my experience with the company, I'm not. Too much BS, so I don't want to be tarred, feathered, and ran outta town on the hood of a flaming Civic by you guys.

As for the pedal question, I'm not sure what you aare trying to explain. I bought the pedals off of eBay for $40. I removed the rubber pads on brake and clutch / installed the new pedals. I installed the new gas pedal over top the original. These three required that you drill small holes for the screws. The dead pedal was merely installed over the carpet in that location. I screwed that in place as well, but come spring clean-up, I will re-install with velcro.

Yes, they are stick-on pieces. The fitment on some is not perfect, but I can live with it. It looks better in person than the pics.

lol sorry to bug everyone again the side heating vents do thoughs just pull and pop out or what ??

From the bible:

- Remove the driver-side ventilator grill (top grill) by pulling outward.
- You should see a screw. Undo that then pull the round grill out.

Or as per RPM's website:

http://www.therpmstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=213_25_48&products_id=846

The new VentPod Single Gauge Pod is cleverly designed to integrate in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) vent of any Mazda 3 / Mazdaspeed 3. Installation is simple – just remove the HVAC air louvers by gently pulling outwards to remove. The VentPod then replaces these louvers with no cutting, drilling, or trimming required. Installation takes only a few minutes.

I'd go with the latter.

I had time today to install my OEM MS3 SS with CF boot and NRG Fat Boy shift knob..

I don't mind the angle of the SS, but I find 2/3 shift a bit sloppy (not used to it). I like the look, but not the feel of the knob as I'm used to the fatter OEM shift knob.

How heavy is the NRG knob? I have the Razo RA66, and it looks very similar, but 400g in weight. Having that extra weight makes a HUGE positive difference. My shifter setup is similar, in that I have a custom fake CF vinyl boot from ebay.

If I remember correctly, the shift knob weighed out at 240 grams; not very heavy. I was kind of disappointed when I received it, as it doesn't live up to its name - Fat Boy. Its a jumbo shrimp, so-to-speak, as it measures 1 1/2" d x 3 1/2" h. That makes it disproportionately taller than it is wide, therefore it is a Skinny Boy.

However, I've taken a few zoom-zooms around the countryside and really like the set-up. it fits rather comfortably without having to crouch or reach. I've adapted to the angle of the shifter, and kinda like it.

BTW, the boot is real CF, not vinyl.

This one doesn't look cheap when installed. Everyone who sees it in person likes the appearance. However, its the durability of the finish is in question. I scratched one component near the ignition with my finger nail on a hot day; and the clear coating has chipped in a couple of places on a really cold day. In that case, unless you are a very cautious driver and don't have kids or pets, I wouldn't recommend this kit to anyone because of that. If I ever become agitated enough, I might just tear the whole thing out and clean up the residue.

Yeah, they're glossy. That's why it reflects the blue lights so much at night. The three in the middle it something I just requested that they cut into the trim piece. They had no problem doing it. Kinda cheesy though because you can see the words from the stereo system underneath it. The three on the right hand side of the car is one I peeled off of the back of the car after I put on my Axela badge. You can purchase the 3 decals on eBay.

its a kit in urethane and its lifetime warranty.
its not cheap in price..cost like 300$ but the look is there and its so classy.

i have one complete kit for a 2004-09 , they made a mistake and i bought it cheaper for someone in qc, but never came back w the money

I don't think the interior is boring... I think Mazda3 has the best interior in its class. Have you sat inside a Civic? Lol. Especially 2004-2007, Civics looked like ass and I'm pretty sure Ford only started doing nice interiors in 2012. The CF is overkill, especially when it's so fake looking. But not gonna lie, that piano black does class things up a bit...
