Just started a job at sheppard and leslie in toronto :). Im currently going down the 400, and then onto davis drive. From there I take the 404 south down to sheppard. I'm wondering if there's a better, route or that perhaps taking the go train might be a better option.

I looked at the go transit website, and see it stops at york u. I could take a bus over to the finch/yonge subway station, and take the subway to sheppard subway line, where that goes to leslie.

Why not take the 400 to like 401 to Leslie and then to Sheppard? Going across Hwy 9 I am sure does take a while and is police patrolled alot. Do you work 9-5 or are you missing rush hour traffic?

yeah 9-5 roughly, i just figured the 401 to leslie would be pretty slow at those times. Im usually getting into the toronto area by about 8:20, 8:30. I find north of highway 7, Mackenzie is where the 404 slows down to 40km/h or less.

Yeah I used to drive from newmarket area down to Toronto all the time and I would just stick to the 401 but I have taken the 400 to the 401 and across to yonge st and yes its slow most days but I can't really find a better way. Taking the 400, it slows near Hwy 9 and taking the 404, it slows down near Stouffville so its a loose loose situation.

Mhmm. I think taking go transit + ttc will take about a similar amount of time, however dont have to worry about actually driving. Once i get a new laptop, I could do stuff on that during the train ride.

Going to York U and taking transit from there will add another 90 mins to your commute during rush hour. Id stick with the car if the GO train doesnt stop at Oriole.

It definitely doesnt stop there. Im suprised it would actually take that long though. Might have to stick with driving until my parents find a house down here :(

my advise, move closer to your job...Commuting long distance is a killer on ones nerves, patience and your pocket book.
If you own a house sell it, if you are renting rent closer to work,

i live at home with my parents. Unless I sell my car as well, commuting would be cheaper then insurance and rent. However, I cannot disagree that mentally and physically it will be better for me. My parents are looking for a place down in toronto now that we sold our cottage. My mom wants to get work down in toronto as well. Im going to see how that goes, but im thinking in a couple months if nothing goes well ill start seriously considering moving. Id really like to avoid this in the winter.
