So I sit at work and i have many people come out and get mad cuz the drive test is on strike and noone can get their licences *the Drive test is in a room in the building i work at.* IVe been reading alot about it and they better get their asses in gear... they are going to be busy as all hell once its done. Like for me it doesnt matter cuz my licence doesn't expire till 2011 and my car is at home... but for alot of people they rely on it. And they are humming and hawwing about it. COME ON PEOPLE i understand that you want full time and part time but by the time you come back everyone will be full time... there will be lineups for months. I dunno it's just been bugging me. :blah what ya'll think?

my girl friend can't get her G2 until they open up shop again. And the snow is almost around the corner, thus she can't take the scooter anymore.

did they pass the law that the driving minimum age is to be bumped to 18 yet...?

cause that sucks for the 16 year olds awaiting their driving tests...

I thought I heard on the radio, a good number of them actually wanted to go back, via voting for an offer on the table, but the controlling union - some steel-worker union, refuses to let them.

Yea its been going on since August 21st and they are still stubborn about it... like come on you guys are going to be busy whe nyou come back like 3 months behind.. the good thinmg is that for the people whose licences are soon to needing be renewed will be extende till a month after the strike is over and the police are aware of this. I dunno today ive had about 6 people ask me about it lol.

jaimie08mazda3

doesn't matter even if the strike goes to that level your licence will be extended till that time... book it right now for like march or something

Darkfrosty7
10-14-2009, 02:56 PM

jaimie08mazda3

I got till may 2011.. it should be over soon... it is hurting huuuge for the economy too... cuz people without licences are not buying vehicles

Well I failed my G2 four times before passing... if I leave it til March and I fail and then have to wait basically a month until the next attempt.

I wanted to try as of November 11 this year (I passed my G2 November 11, 2008)

I find it so stupid how that rumour is always circulating. I remember when I was nearing 16 people were saying that, and it just gets passed down the years. Its a myth.

I renewed my CZ class license last year with medical and all. Although the Drive Test Centre has nothing to do with my medical cert. and all but I have to write for my license every 4 or 5 yrs. I wrote last year or the year before. I live near a Drive Test Centre here in London and I swear, if I park on the road (as I usually did so no shuffling of vehicles when my wife wanted out) before I got my driveway widened I swear, at least 6-10 student drivers were paraellel parking with my car every hour. They get a little nervous when they see you looking from the house, or better yet, from the mirror of my car. With the strike, not one in a while!!

:chuckle

I am waiting for my G, it expired the beginning of September... :(

KenYork

Anyone can still renew their license if they have their G. It's just the examiner's that are on strike, so nobody can get their G1's(?), G2's and G's.

I have to go for my G, my license has expire on me once lol.. I had to do it all over again.. but right now i just want them back to work.. i dont care about the economy.. I care about my pocket! and that G will get me a lower insurance rate!

My insurance dropped with my G but then was adjusted about 2 months later due to some bullshit. So it stayed the same.

so basically it all depends on how long the strike goes for. if it goes till march 31st which will be highly unlikely... then obviously people will be understanding. Its not our fault... but people may get more jobs out of this as well as they will be soo busy they wont know what to do... and gary your a drivers examiner.. IM GOING TO MILTON :chuckle

That may be your opinion, as I'm sure you're all in the same boat and not one more than any other.. driving is still a privilege and not a right.

If your license (G1, G2, G) is going to expire before the strike ends, the MTO will give you an extension...so no worries!

My insurance never went down with my G either, I don't think companies do that. I hope there's still no backlog by the time spring comes around, I'm going to be getting my M1 and M2 next year. Though the M2 test is with the rider training school, not the MTO.
