View Full Version : Windshield cleaning
I'm just wondering how all of you clean the inside of your windshields. I recently bought a car and in the sunlight I noticed that they must have had a GPS mounted on the windshield, and I want to clean it off without any streaks.
In my parents car they used to use Windex or something - I really don't remember what they used but it was always streaky and dusty in the sun and I'm not liking that....
Any tips?

used windex use paper towel at first then the secret weapon to streak free:) is a 100% microfiber cloth .. Then it should be like new... that just how i do mine windows from when i did detailing

newspaper and windex works wonders! if you were to clean other windows that are tinted windex would be bad to use, since the ammonia would screw the tints up! just fyi.

That good to know.. I didnt even knew that.. what about windex auto if that tint safe??

windex is not tint safe! It has ammonia which will destroy your tint. Stick to Stoners Invisible Glass. Best stuff on the market.

I use Invisible Glass, i think it works great! I use it on my car windows, boat windows, house windows.

Exactly. Windex works best for me on the windshield. I always get streaks with Stoner's, although I still use it on my tint..
With Stoner's you have to wipe harder and longer to remove every bit of it, which is really hard to do on an angle... Windex is a little more forgiving :P

I use Stoner's Invisible glass cleaner and it works awesome.
TIPs
-Clean the outside of the windsheild (or window) with up and down strokes and use side to side strokes on the inside.....therefore 'if' you have streaks you'll know where they are.
-Using Stoner's IG I find it works much better to do the glass twice, first with paper towel and second with a clean MF towel....and don'tuse too much!! :)

Invisable Glass all the way! Got some after reading on the forum.
Just washed the Car. Cleaned all glass inside and out and applied Rainx to get ready for winter.
Even gave a can to my Mom and she loves it around her house.

Can you just pick up this "Invisible Glass" stuff at Canadian Tire or something? Would it be in the automotive dept? or the cleaning supplies dept?

Yes you can get it at candian tire..it's in the car cleaning section

normal windex has ammonia but windex AUTO is ammonia free.. i've always used it on my tinted windows and it works perfectly

Agreed on the invisible glass. Just make sure u wipe it down with a microfibre cloth not paper towel or newspaper.

windex should be fine for UNTINTED glass on mazdas, such as the windshield... if you added tint film on anything, don't use it... the ammonia does a better job cleaning grease than alcohol... some cars that have coatings on glass such as the expensive european cars, they might get damaged by windex but I have no idea about this
I used zaino glass polish on my windshield... it stays cleaner longer and does a better job than invisible glass did!

i second the invisible glass cleaner for tinted windows, i use the wipes and it looks bomb afterwards.
... just stay away from the stoner's 'invisible glass wipes' and stick to their spray or aerosol can.

it was the most horrible thing i've used. it claimed to be 'lint free' and 'streak free', but boy was it wrong.

Tried out the Invisable Glass this weekend, worked awesome. Bought a microfibre cloth to use it with and it sucked the big one, so switched up to newspaper which worked awesome, inside and out.

I haven't tried newspaper but I find the cheapest paper towels I can get work very well, with Windex.
The super absorbent and/or super strong type paper towels always leave big cloudy blotches and streaks for me. I assume they have some sort of chemical additives to make them so absorbent and/or strong and whatever it is ends up smeared all over the windshield.

I use the same thing that transparent windex but with a microfiber cloth. as clean as new after that.
