Also, for those who don't know, there is also a possibility to register in the database of stem cell and bone marrow. Unlike blood donation policies which restrict ppl from donating blood based on many parameters, the restrictions for bone marrow donation are age, certain medical history, and weight/height.
You don't have to donate right away, all you have to do is send in a sample and you will be registered in a donor data base. If you will ever be matched with a patient requiring a transplant you will be notified, but you can always say no if at that point your situation changes.
And just like a blood donation, a bone marrow transplant can save a life.

I heard the demand is high for South Asian decent bone marrow transplants, not many donate or are part of the database and many people on wait lists require.

Hmm have to 50/50 it now too! Dad's getting knee replacement surgery on that day and with him being in hospital I'm the only driver in the house (which means trips to and from the hospital)

im in on this....my gf had 2 transfusions this year, it would be nice if we could give back. Im in as long as it's in the evening after work.
