2004 2 litre motor, is it interference or non.

normally nothing to worry about since the engine runs on a timing chain
but it is something to worry about because they (ford) cheaped out and used keyless cam gears and crank pulleys... in otherwords, if the bolts that hold them in place back off, they can cause the gears to slip and jump time
also I have seen the VVT actuator get stuck and cause the valves to ram into the pistons too
but the percentage of this happening is very low... and you can help reduce the likeliness by keeping up with the oil changes so that nothing binds in the engine and cause the (properly torqued) bolts to get loose... whereas the defective engines were just built improperly or had bad parts
