If you're like me and get your oil changes done at costco, double check your oil level once you get your car back...

Last week when I went, they only put 3.2l of oil back into my 3. I immediately called them on it but insisted they were right and that I check the owners manual.

I then pulled the mechanic out and checked the oil infront of him... bloody dipstick was bone dry. He took the car back in and topped it up, but get this...his excuse was that it was the engine's fault...

The Costco location I had this done was Wellington South, London, ON.

Cheap synthetic oil changes there Phil, with Purolator oil filters IIRC... I've been contemplating having my Escape done there.... but I do it myself now that I have no warranty.

The only mechanic i trust is me..and my brother of course.

I even stoped going to the dealer i now do my own oil change...the only time my car is going to a garage is if it needs warranty work.

My dealer to date has broken some clips where the battery is, broke my brand new GT side skirts i bought from them..they also screw my car up which happened to need to be sent to the body shop to be fixed, they didn't put enough oil in once *thank god i check it before i left the lot*
So if they screw up then i couldn't see the young kids at costco doing a good job...lol

that is cheap... hmm... do you have to be a costco member in order to have this service done?

:chuckle Costco doesn't have mechanics! If you think the mechanics at any dealerships do your routine oil changes, think again! (unless they are already doing other work on your car) They get the lackies to do the grunt work! "Installers" usually do the oil changes, tires and sometimes exhaust work.

Yeah but it's Costco and it's all about bulk at Costco...does this mean you have to buy 3 of them in a package? :chuckle

No, but you have to wait three hours for one :-)

I'll still likely get my oil changes done there... I'll just make sure enough new oil finds its way back into the engine.
