You also need an apprenticeship and a garage with mechanics to take you on as an apprentice. When you register with the provincial government as an apprentice they will contact you regarding schooling and put you though the schooling at no cost to you in regards to tuition. You have to pay for course materials. I did and completed my 1st year apprenticeship before the shop shut down and I moved on elsewhere.

im currently at mohawk for automotive.

as Kramr stated above, you need to work in a shop, and be a signed apprentice (as far as i know).
or at least a signed apprentice. i have a friend who worked at joe dogs, but is in school for automotive, and a few people in my class are unemployed.

from there, you either choose a block release program (school 5 days a week for 9 weeks), or a day release program (school once a week, for 8 months).

there is 3 years of this. level 1, 2, and 3.
after that, you right your exemption exam, or your ticket. pass that, and you are a registered mechanic.

Georgian isn't automotive in the sense of mechanics. It's business/marketing.

from what i have understood from your replies is that:-
I need to find a garage who will hire me as apprentice and then from there on i can go for the full course.
1) Do garages normally pay you as an apprentice?

i can do truck/coach technician as long as there are good job opportunities.
As you all know the market because of recession. i don't think that anybody would hire me as an apprentice. so if no body hires me as an apprentice . can i just start a part-time diploma with like co-op and then get hired as a mechanic. tuition fee is no big deal i can pay my whole course i have saved around 10G's.
Thanks

im one of the lucky ones, who i work for will pay 100% for everything up ffront

its such a huge catch 22 with the trades. Govt is crying we need more ppl in the trades, because the baby boomers are on their way out, and there will be a huge shortage in the next 5 or so years. But that said, its extremely difficult to get a job in teh trades, because if you are new and have no real expereince, nobody wants you...then you have come full circle again. its a totall crapshoot and frustrating as hell

there are tonnes of information online about how to go about the apprenticeship program, here is just one of them
