View Full Version : Driving lamps in Grille?

I'm going to want a winter project and I am considering doing what I have done here with a little cut and paste to the actual car. Firstly, do you think it looks lame?
Secondly, if I do it, I would like to hijack the foglamp wire but I would like it to be able to turn on JUST the fogs and not have to have the headlights on first as my '06 GT requires.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to have more then 4 lights in the front of a vehichle, could be wrong but thats what I was told. I don't know if it's the same with light bars or not. Second the fogs have to be a certain distance from one another so you might have problems there aswell. Personally I like the look of just the stock fogs, if you just want brighter I'd spend the money on hid's or swap out the stock fogs for something else. But thats just my opinion, all the power to ya.

Could be a good point about the number of lights. I know in some provinces it's no more than 6 forward facing white lights.
The thing that seems silly to me is that the idea of a fog light is you turn out your headlights which are causing glare in front of you and you turn on your foglights which are as low to the pavement as possible and shine "under" the fog layer. Why then, does the MZ3 require the headlights to be on first?

Talk to Mcguyver_3, his name is dan. He'll re wire the relay so you have full control on the fogs. Did it to mine on friday, took about a half hour but very pleased with the results. I can now turn them on off with or without the headlights or even the parking lights. Tell him Cameron sent ya.

I think this could look pretty good.. it be a rally style mazda 3 lol... lets not forget.. that pic is just either painted or photoshopped... so a real set of piaa's would look different.. I say go for it... it be different!!!

The one thing that crossed my mind was if you installed them behind the grill/mesh...the light would still shine through and wouldn't be noticable to the eye. Thats only if your main goal is for prighter fogs. Like I said before, it's not really mt thing but to each there own.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. That would be to bad and to a trained eye I'm sure you'd see it but at a quick glance you won't even know. Good find man.

OK, I'm in Calgary so your local wiring guy won't do me much good. Barricade, I really like that idea about putting the lights behind the grill and not in it. I hadn't thought of that. Then you get some glass protection too.
As I said, it's just an idea right now.
Thanks all.

Ah sorry about that man. And now that I know your from out west I can understand why you'd want better fogs. I know what the driving can be like out there. I'd give my seal of a pproval on the ones behind the grill. Keep us posted, I'd like to see what you decided on. Good luck man.
