i have an 05 gt hatch and the other day i went out to pick up some food and when i got in my car and started it up the stereo didnt light up. it was dark out so i couldn't see the time or the station it was on. the stereo was still working it just wasn't illuminated. i tried turning the stereo off and back on still nothing... i went to the store and when i came back out of the store and started the car up it worked again. ever since then its worked fine. it scared the crap out of me though. anyone know what the problem is? has this happened to anyone else?

Exact same thing happened to me once like 4 years ago and never happened again after that

Could be a glitch in the headunit but being a 1 time problem it is super hard to diagnose. Keep monitoring it.

This has happened to me before (actually happened on Friday) In total it's happened to mine about 5-6 times in the year and a half I've owned the car. It usually fixes itself after I turn the car off then back on. Still don't know what it is.

Happened to me, but lights never came back on. DOH ! Just went and got a new used head unit today.
