View Full Version : Creaking Noise When Accelerating?

When I accelerate from a stoplight I can hear creaking noise from under the hood of the
car. I am guessing it is the defective engine mount that exists in these cars, but I just wanted to make sure.
Anyone else experience this?

On the regular 3, only the engine mounts on the 2004 to 2007 models were an issue and they weren't defective as such. I have a 2005 Hatch that is driven hard at times and is still on original mounts and they are just fine. Mazda did create a revised engine mount that was stiffer/harder, to reduce vibration at cruising speed, but consequently, transmitted more vibration into the cabin at idle as stiffer mounts will do. See TSB.

The engine mounts on the 2007 Mazdaspeed3's were defective. They couldn't handle the power and engine movement and were prone to breaking. Mazda issued a recall and corrected the problem on later model years with stronger mounts.
What year is your car? Creaking noises are usually symptomatic of suspension issues and not engine mounts per se.
