View Full Version : Fried my connectors/lights

So, I currently only have one working light. My right headlight.

Left side is completely buggered. the entire wiring unit is completely fried/charred/melted in some spots. I think it also did something to my fog lights because they no longer work as well. I checked the fuse and it's fine - so its something beyond it. My high beams wouldn't work either, I could only flick them but I couldn't keep them on. They wouldn't show.

I had regular watt bulbs in there, but I guess it doesn't help that they were aftermarket pieces of shit for $20 at pacmall. If it's not one thing with this car, it's something else. I'm getting so annoyed with my Mazda. >:|

Anyone know why the fogs wouldn't be working seeing as the fuse is fine. I'm 100% sure they are not burned out either. They worked perfectly the day/night before they went out, and it would be odd that BOTH burned out at the exact same time if that's the case.:bang:bang:bang

I think you answered your own question... both fog lights are on the same circuit. Also, you may have cooked some relays.......

To add on to what Ami asked.... are there ANY mods to your wiring?

that's what happens when you put unknown aftermarket crap in... they may claim a wattage but are really more than it says... even PIAA is very guilty of this... in order to have light go through that blue tint crap, it needs a brighter source of light to overcome it... that means running higher voltage

everyone PLEASE stick to name brand *normal* bulbs like sylvania/osram, philips, or GE with none of that blue bullshit on it.... the only thing you're doing is hurting your lighting performance

and if you want that "HID look", the only way to do it is to illegally add HIDs in

^^^ What he said. Aftermarket bulbs do not last long in many cases. Better to save up for a HID kit then taking the cheaper way out and buying the blue bulbs. I originally went this way b/c back in 2006 b/c a GOOD HID kit was going for $250+ at the time and I was a full time student. Now $100 will get you a proper HID set with warranty.

Shouldn't the fuse have blown?

turns out it was the fuse. I didn't check the one UNDER the glovebox, mainly because it's that much harder to access. (i prefer the easy access. :chuckle)

anyways, fogs and lights are working again. A HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE thanks to Dan for hooking me up with a spare HID set for the week or two before I am able to pick up the one I ordered. They make SUUUUUUUUUUCH a difference it's unreal.

He fixed my wires and everything is perfect now. I'm so happy, and he's awesome at what he does!!

i hate you. :complain

I went to check the panel underneath but I gave up because it was too awkward to get to and said eff it, plus the manual said the fog light fuse was under the hood anyways.

The manual is stupid for fuses. **** that thing (says the dude who pulled his horn fuse and found out that makes his tail lights not work)

Dan is awesome though.

*Insert joke here about girl complaining about awkward to get off things*

I was there when Dan was rewiring everything. I didn't see Phil's sticker too. Great to hear your lights are working on HIDs too when I left!

not in all cases... subarus for example are typical of doing this... melted connectors from all sorts of bulbs and no blown fuse!

the fuse in the pjb did blow but the damage must have happened prior to fuse blowing the bulb got hot enough started damaging everything then it hit a certain temp blew the fuse. The fogs stop working because they work in conjunction with the drivers side headlight. So when it sees power from the drivers light it will fire the fogs. Unless of course you do the indy then it works regardless
