Well my wife and I need another car, so we're contemplating between;

2010 Mazda3 Sport GT (Aluminum Metallic Mica)
2010 Mazda6 GS-i4 (Brilliant Silver Metallic w/Comfort Pkg.)

What would you choose? :pop

i assume you guys already own a 3.

do you guys need a bigger car? maybe for those roadtrips or when you just plan to buy more, its always nice to have a bigger car or more comfortable car for a full 5 passenger ride = get the 6

if your happy wiht your 3 and dont need/want the extra comfort for your pasengers get another 3!

however if it was me, i would get the 6 or something else just to experience a different car, not many cars one can own throughout their lifetime... unless your rich lol

go with a 6!
then you can have the best of both worlds of hatch / sedan!

2010 Mazda 6 do not come as a hatch, atleast not for North American market.

I lol'd. The V6 Mz6 seems nice.

As an aside though, why not try out a different brand? Accord coupe/sedan or maybe a TSX if you've got enough to spare.

If I could afford a TSX, I'd rather a TL.
Ideally, I'd rather go with the GT-i4 but again, not within our budget.
The Ford Fusions are nice too but I'd rather stick with a Mazda.

I need more votes to help with our decision. :chuckle

I'm gonna say 6..... wait and see what happens to the 2010 3s if recall or issues.

If you're unaware, we already own a 2010 MZ3 (with absolutely no regrets), which has had a few recalls thus far but nothing to get excited about. If you're basing this strictly off of recalls/issues, the MZ6 can easily be just as bad, if not worse. As long as it's covered under warranty, what's the big deal? No vehicle is perfect.

The second car, depending it's primary purpose.
Grocery getter I'd say the 3 GT, and general around town business.

Long hauler, weekend trips and various distance travelling go for the 6 with comfort.

Mazda 6 06-08 look better than the 2010....the 2010 strictly family sedan now...not really as sporty as the last gen. However the 2010 Mazda 3 are nice too, especially GT versions. Anything under Gt looks plain weird for the new Mazda 3.

Mz6.
It gives you room if you plan to have a kid.
Granted, you can do in a Mz3, but the Mz6 has more room & you wont be as tempted to mod it

It's been several months since I created this thread and we're still contemplating...

Now we're looking at a 2010 Ford Fusion SEL-i4 with Sport/Moon&Tunes Package.

I think the 6's provide comfort and luxury all in the same package. Good luck with your decision.

I recently had the made the same choice! I drove the Mazda6 and wasn't very impressed with the gs-i4! I purchased the Mazda3 sport gt because you seem to get more bang for the buck. I think you would have to get the v6 gt to get a nice car with all the options, lots more money!

if im not mistaken i thought that the mazda 6 and the fusion are built on the same platform.... someone plz correct me if i wrong. also one little cool feature that the fusion has is the sync technology> its in my neighboors fusion and it is pretty cool how it reads ur txts msg and such. i think its a sharp looking car in black.

Well scratch the Ford Fusion idea.
Ford jacked their interest rates up, from 0% to 6.9%! :complain

The Mazda 6 is nice. Have you looked into the Mazda5? It's a nice car/van/wagon thingy (lol), but if you have big/wide feet like me (or have bulky boots/shoes like m), then the Mz5 is a bad idea. While test driving a Mazda5 I almost smashed into the car in front of me on twice during the same drive. The gas pedal is very close to the console wall (ie its a little more to the right than usual) and set back behind the brake pedal a little farther than usual. So my foot got stuck under the brake pedal and I had to push the accelerator down first before I could get it out. I've never had that happen anywhere else.

The Ford Fusion is nice, I've not driven the new ones but I hear they aren't bad. Pretty nice looking too. Have you considered say an Impala or Malibu? Or maybe a G6 or G8? (With Pontiac shutting down, you may be able to get a great deal as they just want to clear out everything and close the dealerships).
