So I was browsing Kijiji for kicks and giggles and some inspiration and reference ideas, when I stumbled across this posting:
http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-1993-Mazda-RX-7-W0QQAdIdZ171050637
Thinking it's got to be a typo in the price, I emailed the poster through kijiji. I asked some standard questions, like whats wrong with it, is there safety/etest, etc. I asked for some more pictures of the car's interior and exterior, and I also asked if the price was supposed to be $9000 instead of $900. This is his response:
"Car is safety and e-tested and i sell it for $900.
Where are you located ?"
Along with 12 photos.
I gotta say, this car looks freakin' beautiful. This has got to be too good to be true. What do you guys think?

Also, this is what automotive.com has to say about the '95 RX-7 (I figure with the dollar's being almost equal, it's a good rough guide to the price). So I figure maybe $2k at most for depreciation over the 2 years difference between the '95 price and the '93 price. (They don't seem to have a pricing for anything before '95).

Oh darn, they've taken it down. I guess someone marked it as fraud or something.
Here's a pic of the ad.

And the link to automotive that I've also forgotten to list:

I am sure this guy would've sold it to you for $800 if you sent him $2000 to "hold the deal", and gave him your acct # to refund you the $1200 when the deal is done...

Let him come with the car, say you want it and you have 900 in cash. Let him give you ownership . dont give anything until you receive
stevenma188

Even if he gives you the ownership, you could still get scammed. The ministry won't transfer it over to you until all Liens are cleared from the previous owner.
Once again...SCAMMMMMM

Not true, the ministry WILL transfer ownership... all that means is YOU assume the lein... so don't be surprised when the car gets towed away one day! lol

Oddly enough, I have not, do tell.
I'm sooo tempted to call this guy lol.
Maybe I'll round up some buddies to join me first lol.

I'm curious as to what the "divorce" scam is.
Just seems so sketchy, but I guess if you met the guy at a public place, and brought lots of buddies, you've got nothing to lose.

Here's an example of the divorce scam that I quickly found on google:
My 2005 Honda Odyssey EX-L(VIN 5FNRL38795B113066) is in great shape, no engine problems, damages or hidden defects. Hasn't been involved in any accident. It was always garaged and never kept outside. I`m a single mother with 2 children because I divorced with my husband and after the divorce I own this car. I really don`t need it and have bad memories about it and that`s why I'm selling it so cheap. The car has a clear title, no liens. Transmission is Automatic and has 65,000 miles. The vehicle is already at a shipping company in Miami, Florida ready for shipping. All documents, including owner's manual, clear title and bill of sale will be provided along with the car.
I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. The total price is $4,500 including shipping and handling. I'm very busy with my job and I'm often out of town so I can't meet in person with you and this is the reason why I opted to sell my car over the internet. I want to use eBay protection program for our safety and for payment I prefer to use an eBay Safety Purchase Service so that they can act as a 3rd party for the payment. You pay a refundable deposit to one of their agents and after that I send the car to your location. If you accept it they will forward the payment to me.
If you reject it, the vehicle will be shipped back on my expense, but I assure you that it won't be the case. According with eBay you have 5 days from the moment you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not. You will have 10 days to settle the remaining balance. If you are still interested in buying this car I will need your full name and shipping address so I send them to eBay and open a transaction case for us.
My brother searches craigslist/kijiji for deals on cars all the time and almost got suckered. He's not the brightest bulb though.

I think the stupidest scam was in an ad for the car, I did a quick google search of the VIN, and an identical ad came up from texas (seller was in Canada according to the ad) for much more money.
I also hate the people that use being in the military as an excuse for sending it to a "shipping" company.

Lol, omg that's retarded. I like how she says she has two children, but no need for a van. And that she's out of town alot.... So you're kids are left unattended at home while you are running around the country, or busy at the office. Lol, yeah right. Oh, and that she has a contract with eBay, lol!
That's funny, thanks PC.
Well I asked him to send a pic of the VIN and asked if he had a UVIP and CarProof 2 days ago. No response lol!
I think I'll wait a week, email him asking if it is still for sale, and when he replies no it was sold, I'll say "Darn, I would have offered more than whomever purchased it was offering." Just to mess with him lol.
