View Full Version : Chumby One and CDN/overseas shipping?

Back in late Oct, I placed an order with Makershed.com for a set of the Chumby Guts. I got confirmation emails/receipts etc. A month later I find out they cancelled my order, and never took my money. I ordered this for my nephew in Hong Kong as a DIY project for his birthday in early Nov.

I sent a complaint to them, but all they said is that my order is cancelled. :flaming Whatever, so I go to the Chumby site and I try to place an order for the new Chumby One. I'm all ready to pay and they actually don't ship to Canada.

They ship to like UK, Japan, etc. But not Canada or Hong Kong? WTF?! This is their official statement:


Can I buy chumby one in Canada?
At this point in time, chumby industries cannot ship chumby ones or chumby classics to Canada due to legal restrictions. We are working towards making the chumby available in Canada, but cannot offer a specific timeline on when this might happen.


What does that mean? It's not like it's ultra classified UAV technology...it's a frickin' wi-fi gadget! Anyway, you guys have any suggestion as to how I can get my hands on one or have it sent to Hong Kong? I've tried eBay but all they have are the classic and they're used...

When do you need to get it for? I have access to a mailbox in Niagara Falls, NY.

The current batch doesn't ship til Dec 12, so I guess they should be available the week before xmas...perfect or worst timing ever, depending on the weather/timing. I guess if I have to relay it thru an US address, I can tell my nephew to be patient and get him another xmas present in the meantime while I wait for the chumby. I appreciate the offer and I will hit you up if it's the only way. =)

The more I read about others' experience, the more I think this is the way to go.
