So yes, this morning, i woke up to turn on the tv and theres no sound. Crappy thing is I bought this last year Nov 16. So im just a bit past the 1year warrenty. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Its not the HDMI cable cuz I changed it with another to see if that was the problem. My DVD player projects no sound from the tv as I have it hooked from the DVD -> Home theatre -> TV. I can get sound from playing the dvds if I use the home theatre but no sound from TV.
Anyone know how I can fix this or any place that I can take it to or rather they come to me? I'd really rather not have to lift the 52'' and bring it to them
Any help or suggestions is appreciated

Give Samsung a call. They helped me a couple of years ago and I was way past my 1 year warranty period.
All I had to do was have it packaged and they picked it up (no charge). The worst they can say is "no".

Well I call them and they said my warrenty was over. But i'll call again I guess and see what they can do
They recommended a place to repair my tv but they charged 80+tax to come and diagnose it

Yes I purchased it from futureshop. But i did not purchase the extended warrenty. I had confidence thinking LCD's dont die that fast but it was the sound issue

:( very unfortunate
lesson learned : Futureshop PSP is valuable!
This is very unfortunate that it's barley over the warranty and Samsung will not take care of it:flaming

Yeah...not. Of the three people that I personally know that have made claims with the FS/BB warranties. Only one of them actually had a decent experience. That was with an Xbox 360 that they replaced no questions asked.
The other two people had to jump through hoops and went weeks without their televisions, only for them to come back not fully repaired.

If you only knew...
I used to be a die hard Samsung fan. But after this whole TV fiasco I want no part of it. Luckily my credit card has the 1 year extended warranty. I'm going through that claims process now. Hopefully they just write it off for me and I can buy a Sharp like I should have in the first place.

Did you try any of the other audio out connections to your receiver?
I also suggest calling Samsung again. I'm still a die hard Samsung electronics user even though I've had issues with the picture of my TV.
I had the panel of my Samsung LN40A650 replaced three times within the first five months! Just waiting for lucky number 4 so I get a brand new tv :chuckle
First time I went through Best Buy CS and they sent a third party to diagnose and repair at no charge. But it took a few weeks. Second time BB CS actually told me to call Samsung (and I should've done so the first time) and Samsung sent their third party affilate to fix the tv. Much faster and smoother experience (both times). The were called Coambria Canada or something.

I'm going to +10000000 that. My parents and my sister both bought LCD Samsungs and the picture is god awful. HD looks okayyy, the gradients don't display properly. But non-HD channels are brutal to watch. The bf has a Sharp Aquos 3 years running now and no issues, nothing beats it! :chuckle
Sorry to hear though :( Future shop should, hopefully, do something about it for you... or they'll just wave a finger at you and say "I told you so" for not buying their stupid extended warranty hahah

Check the mute button on the remote, someone might press it accidently or check the menu and look under sound or speaker.

ITs not the mute and the sound speakers are working. I checked all the sound functions and the tv speakers are set to ON
Also I called Samsung again they told me that they cant do anything about it since my warrenty expired.
I like this tv. When I bought it last year it was one of the best ones in terms of reviews. Quality is really good. Sound isn't bad either

Also, I purchased it with a Citi Petro Mastercard. Where do I find out if they have that additional one year warrenty thing? I know some cards give you an additional one year warrenty if you pay with their card. I'm going to call them, but if they do have it, how do I go about getting the claim? Do i claim through mastercard and they send someone? Or I get it fixed and send the bill to them?

I'd love to take it there. What is the shop called? I'd rather not though as it is a 52'' lcd. Its so big and I find them to be very fragile

if it cost $80 just to see whats wrong, its cheaper to get a set of speakers for it and it will sound much much better

my first samsung i bought from futureshop and the tv is messed up, the sound and colour settings keep changing, eventhough they are listed at the ones i have saved set on, like dynamic and custom setting for sound, and after a year the colour became very faded... since then i've bought 2 other samsungs from the samsung outlet and have never had any problems with those tvs... i think it's cause they were refurbished and rechecked twice, unlike the ones at futureshop and best buy which are only inspected once before shipping out, im a pretty big advocate on refurbished samsungs since they're so cheap! 52inchs for a grand is a really good deal especially for a 7 series samsung

I have the most basic BMO Mosaik card. I read about the 1 year extended warranty that many companies have and went to my website to find the details.
For me, there's a third party insurance company that BMO has hired to deal with warranties and travel claims. I called the company up and they asked me a bunch of questions. Then the rep told me that they're sending out a claims form that I need to fill out and send back with a copy of the original receipt along with the card statement from that month showing the charge.
The company then decides whether it should be fixed or replaced (whatever's cheapest for them i suppose). Then I charge either the repair or the new TV to the same card and they are suppose to credit it. If you've already paid to have it fixed they'll cut you a cheque.

K good news. So i read the digital home forum and found a couple of methods I could try to fix this problem.
One of them was to pull the outlet and leave it over night. I did so and this morning when I woke up, it worked again. BOO YA
Thanks everyone for your input

+1 its almost a waste not to hook up/use an a/v receiver for your TV (considering its a high-end model, I assume you're watching HD content with it). Plus, I don't know about the speakers on your tv but the speakers on my LN52A530 was pretty bad (doesn't project sound well) and even hooking up a couple tiny satellite speakers, I've noticed great improvement in sound

Nice! ...Seems like that works on alot of things nowadays, considering everything has the new fangled electronics and PLCs etc; ...Almost like the ol' PC saying; "If in doubt, re-boot" :chuckle

Big +1, the sound on most TVs is just horrendous; Like listening to a clock radio lol. I run my tv straight thru the AV receiver 100% of the time.If you have an AV receiver and you paid big $ for the system, use it! Thats my motto!
