I have a question regarding my remote and door locks on the 2008.5 Speed 3.

In both other Mazda 3s I have owned, including my wife’s 2008.5, if you press the lock button on the remote when a door is open it will lock the doors and upon closing the last door / trunk / hatch will arm the alarm. I found it handy if I had to get something large from the hatch or backseat. You could press lock then put the keys in your pocket and get out the item. Then closing the door is all you would need to do and the car was secure. Nothing else needed.

My Speed 3 will not do this. If a door / hatch is open and you press lock on the remote it ignores the command. You have to close the door and with everything closed press lock for it to lock the doors and arm the alarm.

Anyone else notice this? Is it something you can program and change?

Don't think there is a way to do it. You CAN lock the doors using the switch on the door and it works. And I _think_ if the trunk is open but the doors closed the remote actually does what you want.

Thanks for the reply Noisy Crow.

I just don't understand why the Speed is different than the other two. My 2004 was a hatch too. The button on the door will do that, but that doesn;t help if I'm in the backseat getting something.

Ah well.

hello guys didn't bother making a new thread but this is about my 2010 sedan GS model.
I was wondering if there's a way that the doors will automatically re-lock itself in a
few seconds or a minute if i forgot to lock the doors when i stepped out of the parking lot?

thanks!

No way that I know of unless you have an aftermarket alarm or starter with the correct door pins installed to sense that the doors are closed. The door pins will cost extra on the installation.

There is a default behaviour where if your car is already locked and you use the keyfob to unlock the car but not open any doors within a specific time (30s or 60s), the car would automatically re-lock.

I believe the 2010 GTE has this feature that can be programmed.

i thought it was basically a safety feature that they dont lock, to ensure you dont lock your keys in the car. Id think if it were to lock after a few minutes automatically when off a lot of people would be calling CAA.
