Hmmm..
http://autos.aol.com/article/2011-ford-mustang
What do you guys think? I really like the look of this stang but what set me off was the price of gas for the v8. The v6 didnt appeal to me after I saw the numbers it put out compared to the new camaro v6 motor from gm.
apparently they have a new v6 motor and its more hp than the camaro.
Would you guys consider this? Would it be stupid to get a muscle car if its not v8?

We'll have to wait for performance numbers in actual tests, but i the 2010 V8 is any indication, the 6 will kill the \camaro in the tests. Their V8 was under rated by 100 ponies or so compared to the Camaro SS, yet it was right on the Camaro tail in the tests. The new V8 is suppoed to be 400+ HP, so this is just a glimpse of what is in store....
Would i buy a V6? If it has a nice throttle tone, and performs well, AND gets great fuel economy for its performance.... why not?? Would I prefer a V8.... hell yes, I'm a muscle car enthusiast!! :chuckle

Not really a facelift, its the S197 replacement.
I saw a 2010 GT with the track pack going around Shannonville earlier this year, and it's a hell of a package. Even with the live rear end he was inhaling a hell of a lot of cars. It's good to see the V6 and the GT are finally getting modern engines too.

Ford should try to put the Eco-Tech motor from the new Taurus in the Mustang. 355hp twin turbo v-6.... yum

Taurus SHO does, and its the Eco-boost, its not a GM(ecotech...)....lol And the look is sweet for the new SHO. Ford cars, Focus aside for NA, are going in a great direction IMO. Just get that damned Euro Focus here!!
From what I understand,, they will be putting it in the mustang soon. Its already in the Lincoln MKT as well.... 3.5L V6 twin turbo, performance of a V8, fuel economy of a V6:
"The 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V-6 is the heart of the 2010 Taurus SHO. This advanced powerplant generates 365 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 350 ft.-lb. of torque across a broad range from 1,500 to 5,250 rpm, resulting in significantly improved power, torque and fuel economy compared with larger, normally aspirated engines.
A key feature of this EcoBoost engine is gasoline direct injection. The direct injection of fuel into the cylinder during the intake stroke, as opposed to port-style injection into the intake, produces a well-mixed air-fuel charge. Fuel vaporization during the intake stroke cools the incoming air, improving volumetric efficiency and lowering the likelihood of knock.
The results are improved throttle response, reduced cold-start emissions and improved fuel economy. The cooled charge enables an increased compression ratio, improving efficiency at partial load, while the higher compression ratio allows for better volumetric efficiency under full-load engine behavior. Customers experience normally aspirated V-8 power, without compromising V-6 fuel economy."
sorry, I'll always be a Ford guy at heart....

I'm a huge fan of the new V6 camaro (and obviously the V8 too)
The camaro V6 is awesome, the sound, the performance. Very G35ish sound from it, and the looks IMO are way way way better on the camaro too.
Who wants a mustang anyway. That is a car for the ladies....do a tally of all the mustangs you see on the road...most young guys drive v6 mustangs but the ladies, young and old drive GT's LOL
The Mustang's platform is still dated, and it rates it's V6 at only 1 HP more. I haven't looked at the torque figures. HP rating is still a game, some end up with lower ratings, other end up with higher ratings.
Camaro FTW!!!!
Flame suit on!

they're both ugly IMO. The retro look is so tired.

the 2010 Mustang was right on the Camaro SS's ass with 100 less HP (and I mean right on it!!) How do you think it will do with 1 more HP in the V6? And how do you think the new 5.0 V8 will do against your precious Camaro when it surfaces? The Camaro is sharp, but it is, and always will be, following in the Mustangs footsteps.... Mustang is born, Camrao is born, Mustang goes retro, Camaro goes retro... Mustang kicks Camaro's ass, Camaro cries....
:chuckle
And since when did you see more women driving Mustangs than men?? They drive the V6s, not the GTs or Shelby..... You need to get your eyes checked! lol (though I did see a hotty drving a Shelby Convertible in Kitchener this summer, I was like WTF?? Young, 20's hottie....)

How about the opinion that both the Camaro and Mustang suck donkey balls and you go get yourself a decent performance car like a twin turbo 335i or M3 instead. Flame suit thrown to the ground so I can run amok in naked blissful revelry.

I'm pretty sure for most of the time both cars have ever been out, the Ford has lagged behind the camaro.
Also, because one car was underrated, do you honestly believe that the rest of the cars ford makes will be underrated? LOL There are standards and third parties involved in coming up with the HP rating numbers. The ford is riding on an OLD platform. I think the camaro will be a better handler.
I think the Camaro is still the better car.
And yes...a LOT of chicks drive GT stangs.
In general chicks drive mustangs, they rarely drive camaros.:chuckle

with a quote like that you should keep drinking more, I still remember the mid 90's lx body style that had a 4 banger in it. Unless your racing it on weekends, or you want to have the car impounded, I would even go for a 4 banger mustang in the new bodystyle, especially if it's a nice turbo 4 : )

Here, a nice little artcle for those that are fans of the muscle cars:

Mustang, 110HP short of the Camaro, and look at the numbers....
Wait for the 5.0 in the stang, then see who rules the stable kids.... (rumoured to be 425 RWHP) Camaro and Mustang have been back and forth for years, and always will be.
And for all you dpmestic/musclecar haters, don't bother posting, you will have nothing of vaue to add to this thread.... :chuckle

I don't think it'd make 425 rwhp unless it was massively underrated from the factory. Or that article 3 posts up which quotes 412 crank is wrong. Personally, I'd bet on the article, and not the rumour.

Ford has a tendancy to "underrate" their HP numbers for a reason.... The 04 was supposed to hit 300 at the crank, yet a factory car as dynoed at 290 at the wheels... pretty efficient driveline if it only lost 10 hp from crank to pavement! Also check out the Shelby.... you think its 500HP at the crank? :chuckle Ford has been doing it since the 60s.....
Also keep in mind the 412 is a "leaked source"... how accurate do you relly thin that is? And you think maybe it was intentionally leaked to put people astray? Things that make you go hmmmm...... lol Anyways, I am looking forward to the published numbers when they come out.....
