Hi guys,

So I had recently bought a pair of Nokya 9006 hyper yellow bulbs to replace the stock ones. I had installed them about 2-3 months ago and yesterday I noticed one of them had already blown(passenger side). They are rated at 2500K-70W. I am assuming the problem is the bulb itself, but now I know that these don't last that long, therefore I was wondering what other brand do you guys recommend? I am looking to get another set of yellow since I really don't like how the stock ones look. HIDs are probably my best bet, but that would be a future plan I have for the car, as for now I am looking for the best temporary solution for regular 9006 halogen bulbs. Please advise..

Thanks

Narva is a German brand. Solid company. Not a ricer type.
I have yet to find a supplier in Canada.
Here is one place from US:

On the site that said Gibbons posted it said "Philips / NARVA" so... could it be the same mfg at all? Philips does make good bulbs though I thought.

I believe they are part of Phillips indeed.

U put a 70W bulb into the fog light housing ! U are lucky it did not fry your elctrical cable.

I believe 55W is the max. Check out this one Hoen Endurance ...

Little pricey but worth it!

That's probably why it didn't last longer than it should have. A few of my friends are using Nokya's and they haven't had any problems yet (some have lasted for over 2 years). If you still don't want Nokya's, maybe you could check out Luminics. They're a little more expensive than Nokya.

I say cut the hassle, and go HID. I bought Nokya and it was good for my 3. On my new car, I didn't like them so much and went with an HID kit, a bit extra but worth it.

I use Nokya's they're alright, but I agree go HID's. Once one burns out I'll be going HID's. You can find a decent kit with ballasts for $100, give or take.

Side note (sorry to thread jack), how many posts do I need to make a FS thread? I want to put my wheels up and a couple other items. Kijiji sucks...god damn trollers.

My Experience..

Every wonder why the yellow fog lights of mazda3s go off on one side?

I think this might answer your question.

I was running yellow fog lights at 70W and noticed it turns on and off on the drivers side at times.

I had Joee from Defcon check it out, after replacing it back with my HIDs and we both noticed the harness is coroded and burnt. He fixed it but note to users of 70W bulbs. They will eventually burn your harness.

Hey,

I'm looking to upgrade my fogs to HID. I want yellow fogs so I already have yellow film over the lights. For the HID Kit, do I need 9006 bulbs 3000k temp?

Also, do I have to consider wattage when buying an HID kit so it doesnt burn the film?

Thanks.

get LED bulbs if you want to preserve your harness

I've had my Nokya yellow bulbs in the MS3 for about 11 months now without any probs. Stupid question but did you by chance touch the bulb with your fingers when installing? I always wipe them down with isopropyl alcohol before installing.

+1
I use disposable cotton gloves right before I plug them in

I suggest you use OEM bulbs and just get Yellow LaminX over them.

Fog lights in the city have almost zero effect anyway.

but there are people who don't want the yellow look when the lights are off, that's why they want yellow bulbs!

No shit a 70w bulb in a 55 harness is gonna burn something.
And a yellow bulb will still make the housing look yellow at most angles.

The yellow bulbs in the MS3 fogs shouldn't reflect yellow too much in the housing since the fogs have a glare shield that surrounds the bulb. I found bulbs alone weren't yellow enough so I put some ebay overlays on as well.

you could get LED bulbs they are much brighter looking but i don't think they have the greatest output.

Yes, if you go HID for the fogs, you will need 9006 in 3000k temp if you want the really yellow HID fogs. Can't tell you if they will burn the film, but if it does, just buy the Xpel pre-cut yellow film from Mathieu (Seche Media) for the MS3 fogs. Seche Media is a sponsor on this board. It is $12.00 for the yellow overlays and precut for the fog shape.

Nextmod carries the HID fog kits and they were made specifcally for the 3's.

I've had my yellow Eurolite bulbs from NextMod for approximately 3-4 months now and I haven't had any problems whatsoever. The output is decent and is quite yellow (I put Lamin-X on to make it even more yellow). I guess just for the fact they were a decent price and I've had no complaints I would recommend them.

Go to xenon depot,( www.kbcarstuff.com) and buy plug and play slim ballast mount 3000k kit $199 I put these in my Speed and they are awesome just like the Le Mans cars can't be missed! just take front bumper off and take out fog-lights and bend metal bracket or the xenon bulb will hit deflector. Mount the ballast with 3m to side of front bumper and plug in wires! best money spent and I bought spare 6500k bulbs if I want to swap out in the summer for $30/pair in the clearance section www.kbcarstuff.com shipping is ultra fast!!

I have stock HID low beam (4300K).
I converted my fogs with an HID kit, 35W, 4300K.
I swaped my high beams with Hoen-USA 70W blue coated bulbs, which also serves as our Day-Light running bulbs, so, they are on steady.

And after 3 years, everthing still works just fine.
