Hey guys,

So I parked my car at work this morning around 6:15am and never touched it or moved it until I was leaving at 7:00pm today and noticed someone smashed the rear right side of my car! the bumper is dented along with the rear right quarter panel, reflector is broken off.

I went to the collision centre to file a fail to remain report and got an estimate of $900. Im not going through insurance so does anyone know anywhere in the durham region where I can go for an estimate? Im pretty sure the bumper can be popped out buffed and painted along with the quarter panel.

I work across from a couple used car dealerships who have a habit of parking their cars in front of my business. Im going to go and question them tmw, Im not expecting them to admit anything of course, they're pretty ignorant.

I've filed complaints with my landlord against them for parking in front of my business but so far they haven't been much help.

anyone with any ideas or places I can go for repair quotes let me know. thanks

Doesn't the property management have insurance to cover this?

I had a dent fixed for free when My car was involved in the same incident.
Parked at Sobeys doing some groceries... Mentioned it to the manager that was thereat the time. She slipped and told me about the coverage that they had for such instances.

I've never heard anything like that before. I'll be in touch with my landlord tomorrow

We know have a new sponsor check with them first...

You can always heat gun the bumper and pop out the dent for the time being. and buy a side reflector for cheap.

When I had my accident 2 weeks ago I called Ajax Mazda and was told that they outsource body work to a body shop located at the intersection of Bayly and Lake Ridge. I didn't go there in the end, but I guess it could be an option.

thanks for the replies guys. I went to that collision centre at hwy 2 and lakeridge, they quoted me 600 to repair it, 1100 for a new bumper with reflector.

no cameras here and stupid me I had forgotten to put the alarm on in the morning, that's why I didn't even notice it until I left work around 7pm

there's another body shop across from me that said they can pop out the bumper and repaint it for 300 cash. So i'll be going that route on monday

landlord won't enforce that rule. There are no designated parking spots here. and Ive got three used car dealerships that are right across from me. Im pretty sure it's one of them that smashed the car.

One of them also owns the bodyshop so go figure they smash my car and get paid to fix it.

Did you report it to the collision centre as in the police?

If so, you might as well go through insurance. If you don't, expect a letter from the insurance company in about 2 - 3 months.

A while back I reported my accident to the collision centre but was holding off on getting it repaired since it was really minor. Then about 2 - 3 months later the insurance company sent me a letter saying that they are opening a claim for me automatically. I called them and they said that the collision centre reported it to the them and that it was my choice to fix it or not, but that it would impact my insurance the same regardless.

Isn't hit-and-run no fault automatically? If so, it means no deductible and no impact on your record? I went to the same collision center in durham, so you must have spoken to a police officer as I did. As WeatherB said, I think your insurance company will hear about it eventually.

You should start to puncture the tires or scratch the used cars from the dealers that park infront of you business so that they get the message. A family friend did this before with his auto shop and it work. Sure, the used car dealers accused him of doing it, but they didn't have any proof. :chuckle

I was told that by reporting to the collision center, the insurance won't know about it. But I find that BS

Your premiums will probably not go up since it was a hit and run. But you might have to pay the deductible since you insurance company has no one else to get the money for the fixing from

Won't be going through insurance. If you report an accident to the collision centre you have the option of reporting it to your insurance or not. If the police office swipes your driver's licence, your finished. The info will get passed to the insurance company no matter what. If you tell the officer you're just doing a report, they will manually fill out the accident report.

Im getting the repair done for $300, same as my deductible so why bother. If I had to pay the $1000 whitby mazda quoted me at, I would think twice about using my insurance.

2 wrongs don't make a right, buttttt 4 wrongs (4 tires punctured) you may have a point there :chuckle
