Engine Swap.

Hey, guys my name is Kyle Samuels.This may, be a stupid question however, I was wondering. If a Nissan Skyline, Rb20DET turbo engine could be swapped into the Mazda 3?

When it comes to things like this I think it's more appropriate to ask if it's feasible.

If money is no object OR you get labour or certain very expensive parts like the drive train for free then maybe.

wouldnt that engine be FR layout? as opposed to the stock mazda3 FF layout?

i think a mazda6 V6 swap would be better, or just a boosted 2.3L...

Seems like an odd request a motor normally used in rwd configurations being put in a fwd car...

Aside from cost, heres some info that may or maynot help:

You may want to look into Nissan Pulsar, Bluebird or GTiR's. They are AWD but had the engine horizontally placed to might give you a few idea's on mounting and what not. However I think you'll run into problems are those are AWD Transmissions and arent FWD so not sure about transfer case and all that (in terms of eliminating them).

I would probably say rebuild the mazda 3 motor w/ forged goodies, slap on a turbo, a EMS and other needed stuff and off you go. Probably save you a heck of alot of headaches and you'll know it will work right.

But with money, anything is possible.

u cant do it engine bay is way to small, ud have to change alot more than just the engine, and not to mention a mazda 3 with that engine would prolly peel the paint right off the car
