hey guys .. im in the middle of tinting my tails ...

i sanded the lights with 100 grit paper .. i thought that would be good .. im so dumb ...

anyways .. i did all the coats of niteshade .. n now its drying ..

PROBLEM - u can see every single sand mark ( scratches ) on the lens ...

have i ****ed up the lights or will these go away once i clear coat it???

:bang:flaming:complain

100 is VERY rough ..

u should start with 400 grit sand paper, go to 800ish grit sand paper to remove all sanding marks from the prior grit. Once all deep scratches from the previous grit are smoothed out, change to 2000 grit sand paper and smooth the surface even further. till its smooth

than spray it again

just be very careful when sanding also b4 u spray them again make sure they are very clean and whiped down look for ANY rough spots because they will show up 10000000% when u spray them

omg so ur telling me i have to redo them? cant i just sand it with 2000 grit paper right now and then do clear coat?

2000 grit is soo fine that it won't take out the scratches unless you sand for like 6hrs. By starting with 400 grit and working your way up, it will actually take less time to smooth out the scratches.

so ur saying that just sand from 400 to 2000 .. and then clear coat .. and i should be fine? i dont want to redo the nite shade

Depending on how much the sanding takes off, you might need to reapply the nite shade.

use 400 and sand your life away. Then switch to 800 or 1000

Fat girls ass?!? Yeah, post up a pic how bad could it be?

Orange peel is caused by poor texture properties before a paint job. You can sand it out with very light sandpaper (2000grit) if your lucky.

Or you could have avoided this whole problem and done what every single other person has told you to do on here, and do it right.
Use 400 Grit to begin, then make your way up to 2000 to finish off with a nice smooth finish.

But I guess just scratching it with 250 is good too? :bang

lol u wanna know wahts funny ... i did my emblems and used 1500 sand paper .. n i got a orange peel effect on that aswell .. so i am pretty sure its not the sanding that caused it ....

you want to know what's funny? You're attitude. You come on here and ask people's advice, choose not to follow it, and are not satisfied with the results. Then, you ask people for advice again, and you again choose not to follow, and even go further as to criticize.
If you are going to ask people for advice, follow their advice. If you are too lazy to do something right, don't do it in the first place!

wtf? where the hell do u see attitude in that post? i said u know whats funny .. how the hell is that showing attitude? .... i have read 4 - 5 threads on these forums about people sanding there lights .. just cause one person said not to .. and i didnt follow what they said that means im wrong? ... how bout u go look at some threads where ur tryin to "admin & control" before u come here and try to bash me

and ya i ask for help cause its on a topic of somethin diff then what i was originally asking .. so where the hell are u coming from sayin im not choosing to follow... how bout u go learn how to admin before u come here and tryin to ****in say that i have attitude ..

alright?

It's the head lamps that are not to be shaded or facked with. No laws on tinting the rear.

I hope that you taped off the back-up lights before you put your first couple of coats of tint on (a round sticker works great), then remove the sticker(s) and apply your finishing coat(s) over everything to blend the paint. This is done so you can see when you back up at night. I'll look for your car in the near future. It should be easy to find as it will be the one with the crumpled rear bumper.

BTW, 100 grit is for drywall mud... and from what I've read, a good bit of advice would be, "Don't mess with your house either!"

Step away from the tools!! :chuckle
