Roberto Alomar collected a whopping 73.7 percent of the vote on his first Hall of Fame ballot Wednesday, but the former Jays second baseman finished eight votes shy of election.

Personally would love to see Robbie Alomar get in as a Blue Jay and also Jack Morris!

If Roberto Alomar got into the Hall of Fame I would be incredibly happy! He was around when the jays won the 1992 and the 1993 World Series.

He also said many times he would go in as a Blue Jay since he had his best years in baseball with us and he was regarded by many during those years as the best player in baseball. When he is elected he will be only of 2 Puerto Rican born players to be elected, him and Roberto Clemente.

Robbie Alomar should've been elected. It's a shame that he didn't get inducted this year, but next year, for sure. The first Blue Jay in the hall! WooT!

I doubt Jack Morris will go in as a Blue Jay, but rather as a Detroit Tiger.

Although I would love to see Alomar enter the hall as a Blue Jay it must be noted that only 1 player received the necessary 75% to be entered this year...and that was Andre Dawson after many years of near misses! Alomar will make it in...its not a question of if but when.

Classic vid from the '91 season. Maybe this was the reason why Alomar didn't make the first ballot?

Might have something to do with spitting on an umpire...

Spitting Incident
On September 27, 1996, during a game against his former team, the Blue Jays, Alomar got into a heated argument over a called third strike with umpire John Hirschbeck and spat in his face. He defended himself by saying Hirschbeck had uttered a racial slur and that Hirschbeck had been bitter since one son had died of ALD and another had been recently diagnosed as well. Upon hearing this public disclosure of his private life, Hirschbeck had to be physically restrained from confronting Alomar in the players' locker room.

Sorry, Robbie, but you ain't getting my vote that easy.
